Gretna vs Floyd @ Salem

If Gretna is host team, why id this game being played in Salem ?

Gretna to Salem 62.1 Miles
Floyd to Salem 46.8 miles

Granted, it's only 15 mile difference, but if Gretna was scheduled to host, this game should be played somewhere other than Salem.

Does any guru know how Salem got selected as site ?

I ask again. Why are Gretnas and all Pitt County gyms not able to host? They renovate their schools and gyms are not able to host athletic events because of size. Is this true? Who makes these decisions in Pittsylvania County? Sounds kind of backward.

Back in the day when county was planning to build new middle schools, there was a principals meeting, with school board, among others. One of the attendees suggested putting real gyms in middle schools, that could host tournaments. He was all but ejected from the meeting.
This is the same county that spends millions of dollars on a dog house.

As to Pittsylvania Counties gyms, a friend once told me that Pitt County is one of the most backward counties in the Commonwealth. When you cross the Dan River in the South or the Staunton River in the North of the county, you go back at least a hundred years. Their mindset is athletics dont matter. It is usually the first thing cut when plans are made for new or improved facilities.

That is true. They think more highly of stray dogs than they do high school students.
