Grassfield earned an automatic bid to the 6A South Regional playoffs with a 10-0 mercy rule win over Woodside in the Conference 2 semi-finals. The Grizzlies scored four runs in the 1st inning and six more in the 5th inning to secure their regional berth.

Old Dominion recruit Brent Smith was simply brilliant striking out six of the 16 batters he faced while allowing only one baserunner...a 1st inning double to future Monarch teammate Seth Woodard.

Smith also joined in on the Grizzlies offensive display walking in a run in the 4-run 1st inning and delivering a single to load the bases in the 5th inning. Woodside starting pitcher Mason Adamson struggled to find the strike zone early on allowing four hits and walking three straight batters (two with the bases loaded).

Dwight Riddick opened the game with a single and scored on a double by Austin Obenhour. Justice Bigby added an RBI single and bases loaded walks to Smith and Cole Ludtke gave Grassfield a 4-0 lead.

Adamson settled down and did not allow another hit until the 5th inning when he allowed singles to the 1st five batters. Ludtke had an RBI single for his second RBI and shortstop Trenton Burmeister followed with an RBI single. Grassfield ended the game with two sacrifice fly balls that ended the game.
