The problem is PM has a good ol boy hick calling the plays and he doesnt comprehend that you have to stick with the game plan of running the ball. He cowered away from ground n pound almost immediately. You cannot do that vs. a team of GW's caliber.
I agree as soon as he saw they couldn't gash us he started throwing it. But the game is very young.
Yea the things I told you about over the weekend are biting them in the butt already. Short-bus playcalling and too many penalties.
No GW had a complete pass for about 20 yards and fumbled it. That was up 14-0 GW has dominated other than the 1st Q which was a tie.
Congratulations to the Maroons. P.M. just had no answer for the pass. You are correct mmqp you can't play the other teams game and expect to win SMH.
Good game. Closer than the score. Beamer to me was the difference in the game and I said that in my predictions even though I picked PM by 1. PM looked out of place in pass defense. Not that the outcome would have been different but Wheeler was missed in the middle. As a coach myself I try not to ever question the play calling but I think PM went away from what was working too early. The lack of a passing game didn't help either. Congrats GW. The final four should be great with all 4 of the top seeds advancing. Still think any of the four left can win it. None stand out from the pack in my opinion.

Yeah GW has to much speed to get outside on us. Our passing was the game breaker from long distance. And our run game pounder in close. It just seemed that once PM'S coach saw GW could stuff the run he almost completely abandoned it.
And Blaster I know I'm ripping our coaching up one side and down the other but you guys have a heck of team and I wish yall the best of luck next week! Y'all caused them to panic so quickly.
Stop taking the focus off of GW handing out a butt whooping. PM couldn't match the size and speed.

Size and speed had nothing to do with this game period. This was all about no pass defense George Wythe has the passing game Parry McCluer did not just as blaster said before the game. They had more weapons. The Blues had G.W. run game well in hand but could do nothing with the pass. Running game only its a very close game add G.W's passing game its no contest. No fault to the players they simply haven't been drilled on a passing game. It was no secret coming into this game. Same thing took us out in the quarters 2 seasons ago and I believe by the same score. Congrats blaster y'all played a heck of a game. I will be pulling for y'all to take it all the way.
Hats off to PM...Very good team. I figured this one for a dogfight, and all signs pointed to that early. I was really afraid the two turnovers in PM territory would come back and bite us, because good teams capitalize on them....You guys did just that. Nelson is a stud, and the numbers speak for themselves, but I was more than impressed with Dawson and Cook, particularly on the defensive side. I can't see us lining up against a better duo for a long, long time, and hate I missed seeing Wheeler.
I was really pleased with our balance offensively, and we've done a much better job making defenses guess lately. Once we got the ground game thru the middle going with Harbor and Beamer dives, things seemed to open up for us a bit. Very proud of our defensive effort as well. I know some play calling for PM was a little...meh...but that was a talented team from Buena Vista that even stacking the box usually doesn't help. I know someone mentioned it earlier (maybe mmqp?) that we forced the panic button a little early. I think that's absolutely correct.
Knowing PM's dominance in the 80's, pregame, I caught myself wondering, "It's so weird we've never played this team in football with all the success we've both had." I know timing and PM's stint in the East had a lot to do with that, but now that the game is over, it just feels like these two teams would, and should, play more often. I'm happy to have seen the first, and I can guaran-damn-tee it won't be the last.

Beamer can throw laserbeams! Heck of a quarterback for sure. Perhaps the Blues will begin to work on the pass play after being taken out by it 2 times in 3 years but I doubt it. Running game is what we know. Hope to see you guys at states! Congrats to one heck of a team. Played sound ball to the whistle.
Yeah he is a monster and we get him for one more year. Someone tried to tell me Beamer hated to be hit lol he will run over people and love it.

Personally, I think PM was the most talented team we've seen this season (minus scrimmages). I know some will raise their eyebrows at that statement considering we've played Galax, but I honestly feel that way. Galax is a very, very well coached team, and they have that edge over everyone they play.
I can't say enough how impressed I was with Cook and Dawson. They made a lot of plays that will never go talked about. I'm no high school coach....Never have been, and never will be...But if I was, those two could play on my team any day, and twice on Fridays.
I have said on here before k.j does not get the recognition I think he deserves. He is a great athlete and a play maker. He is a ball hawk at the snap and plays to the whistle. He played through ankle problems last year that no one outside of the community ever knew about and has dealt with a busted shoulder for the last several games. I don't tell you this as an excuse because I don't think it would have mattered. Just trying to show you what kind of heart he has. Oh yeah and he broke his finger I think on the 2 point conversion tonight. Taped it up and kept playing. Marcellus is shaping up to be just as good. Thank you for the notice. They have all been a joy to follow.
I didn't see anyone on that team that was scared to take a hit!!! I hope he is getting some hard looks by some D1 schools. The Owen kid was a tough one to get off his feet to. Blues could stop his forward progress but little joker didn't want to go down. Tough sucker.
