GW's game against Amherst County Saturday has been cancelled. Officially, it will go into the record books as an Amherst forfeit. They had two dozen positive COVID tests on their team and were not able to field a team for Saturday's game, due to COVID protocols.

GW will (hopefully) open their season September 10th at home against E.C. Glass.

I hate COVID.

Are you sure it goes in as a forfeit? In the spring it went in as "No Contest" if a team wasn't able to play due to COVID.

Agreed. It would make zero sense to be a forfeit when all other COVID cancellations have gone down as “No Contest”.

Coach Anderson told me it would be officially an Amherst forfeit. I don't like it, either. I would rather it be scored as a no-contest.

I presume normal rider points will apply. I agree it should be a no contest although the VHSL has changed game rulings after the fact-See 1993
