What happened to GW? Seems like they completely collapsed. I miss all the wild bravado coming from the GW camp.
I have no idea about any details but it seemed some fans were really hard on the coaching staff even when they had winning seasons. Maybe they should have been more supportive...

The other wythe county teams would love to have GW’s coach. Most schools around this area would as well. The man is a leader no doubt. Seems some people just don’t like him tho. Some seem bitter about the way the old coach went out. And it seems like when I ask people why they don’t like him, a lot of them reply that “we should have one state two different times recently and he blew it”.

I personally think that he knows football very well. I think he has a communication problem with his assistants and the players as well. He talks down to his assistants right in front of the team. The assistant coaches that have left the program have stated that they are tired of getting talked down to by the head coach. GW has had players transfer to other schools and some kids did not come out for football after starting the previous year. I don't know the exact reason these kids chose to transfer or not even come out to play. It is my understanding that he has improved his communication skills and seems to be more personable toward the team. I do think that he is improving and as I said before; he does know football.
GW still has skill players, however, they lost all of the big linemen they had the past three years. Will be 3-4 years before they get back to state semifinals.
As said above we've lost a lot of key linemen and it's showing. We definitely still have some great talent in spots but idk if it's enough to beat Galax. You know I'll never pick against MY MAROONS but this week may be a wake up call of how far things can and my have fallen off.
Agreed look like they was going through motions against Fort Chiswell. Cannot beat good teams like that
