It seems there's a lot of dismantling and not a lot of building going on in Wytheville as it is. I was not an Ingo fan, but I will credit this. The man could get kids to come out and play. I would of at least emulated that part his style.
Ingo definitely deserves credit for helping the program stay at a high level. He was a good coach. As I stated last year I personally feel that part of the dislike for Harner is not fair or accurate. People have a hard time with change. That’s normal. I honestly feel that the mans win-loss record is pretty impressive, especially if you consider that the kids don’t seem to give him 100%! 2 trips to the semifinals in 3 years is nothing to hang your head about.
Garner is a really good guy outside of football but the kids do not want him as a coach. He has no clue how to connect with his players. Ingo did, Pruitt did, Wheeler did, Russell did ect, ect. Yes only 2 of them won gold but they all had the respect of their teams. He doesn't and I don't think he ever will.
Agreed the kids don't give him 100% and they never will sadly. But like I've said before he has 2 teams that were groomed to be in position to win a title. He had and O and D line that 99% of HS teams would kill for. He had a 4 year starter at QB he had a backfield with an unfair amount of power and speed. He had multiple 6'1+ WRs with jets for legs. He had so much depth that he could plug and play literally any position. And 2 defenses that would try and make you quit by abusing you all night. Yes GW fans are never satisfied but that's because we know what we have. And we never will be especially when we had 2 teams that were more than primed for gold.
As someone who could care less about what team wins or loses, the fact of the matter is the parents are to blame for the situation that GW finds itself in. I have been on the sidelines and heard the attitudes and arrogance the players have and their parents created that. Parents have raised kids that are handed everything, told they are guaranteed playing time and work ethic is nonexistent. Why blame a coach when you need to be blaming parents? Harner is a really good guy, but he's an outsider who will never be part of the parents club who try to control everything at GW.
Thanks for the honesty. I don’t blame all of the parents tho. Mainly just a few. I just can’t blame Harner. The man is just a puppet in the program. Just my opinion...
GW has 42 kids 9-12!!! Some of you don't have a clue of what's going on. Good Grief!!!! That is above average for this area!!!!!!

I don't mean to ruffle any feathers I simply state what I'm told by players. Not parents the parents are gonna complain if jimmy or Johnny aren't starters. So there word is much but when kid after kid says they don't like him something is wrong.
No one talks to you Master Blaster! We all know who you are! And yes you are trying to ruffle feathers that is why you say what you say for the past four years. You do not have a clue what's going on!!!! You do not speak to us or for us in any way. Literally, you were a laughing stock in our locker room almost every Thursday or the course of the week, for the things you would post. Just STOP!!!!
Maybe instead of laughing at internet message board posts, y’all should have focused on training better to avoid results like the Galax game. Talk about laughable!
That's cool laugh away and I'll set back a read the texts and fb messages that I have from YOUR TEAMMATES! PM me who you are and I'll send you the screen shots of one of your biggest starters telling me this stuff. That's one thing you will come to find out I will not say anything on this board if I do not have 100% proof to back it up. Check your sources before you say that there is absolutely no way I was talking to players. I can promise you I was. And think about it are they going to come out and say "yeah it was me I'm the one telling this idiot all this crap" no they aren't man. I hold zero bad will twprds you or any other player or coach of GW I simply state what I've been told by players. You can hate me or love me or wish I'd die it's a free country man but none of that will change the fact I was in your locker room more than you'll ever know. And again yeah I may have been laughed at but I wasn't wrong about how things would go or who would do what.
Are you an adult or a child? I am making a point that he does not have inside information. I know for a fact that if anyone did for some reason contact him it might be a MINORITY not the MAJORITY of players. Again believe what you want!
How does George Wythe continue to bogart the entire board without have results that merit such attention? Geez, it's like basketball season all over again.
There is a simple remedy for that, talk about someone else. Never seen them play so I couldn't care less, but this is a thread about them, start a different one
Ironically, I think this is the only thread on the first page about GW that was actually started by a GW fan. I could be wrong, however lol
