My lord fellas where has this season gone? We are sadly at the end of the regular season but that mean the playoffs are here. So it's not all sad news for us fans lol. Soon we will he treated to some really good matchups and some rematches from the regular season that could go the other way this time around. So let's hope for some slugfests and some quality ball.
Now to this game
GW has had a down year this year by our standards and so has RR. Both teams have had many years of success in their own respects. And these 2 are always marking this game down as it is the most important game to each team in the sense of rivalry. Now these games don't always have something on the line in terms of seeding or playoff importance. But they always have a ton on the line in the way of we beat you or you beat us bragging rights. These 2 hate to get beat by the other now since 99 RR has only won this matchup twice. GW owns the all time W-L in the series so RR is always trying to catch up and they would love nothing more than to send GW to its first .500 season in an extremely long time. We've been lucky enough to have a winning record for 20+ years. So if RR can pull off this upset they will have alot to brag and boast about. Not only will they beat their biggest rival but they will have sent us to our worst record in 20+ years and it will send us down in seeding for the playoffs.
GW really has nothing to gain by winning other than being able to say we beat RR again haha. So this could be a trap game for MY MAROONS. But I don't think it will be RR is struggling badly this year with their only 2 wins coming against NW and Holston. Both of which are on the sad end of ablity, RR has a young team with only 4 or 5 seniors. So in time they will get better but that is going to hurt them this year and I think it will hurt them bad. From all I've seen RR is small and very shallow on depth. But I will give them this they are a Scrappy bunch with no quit in em. But scrappy only gets you so far when it's literally all you've got. GW will have an edge at every possible position and in every intangible. Many are expecting this game to get out of hand fast and I'm in that group. GW should be able to score at will against the Indians and our D has seen that veer since the 7th grade. So it will be hard for RR to get much of anything going on O and on D they will struggle to slow our run game or contain our passing attack. If they want any chance at success they will have to get pressure on Deacon if not he will pick them apart. I'm almost positive that this game is over by the half by 5 or more TDs. We can put this one away and have the starters resting for round 1 if we play team ball and execute our game plan. This game really is decided by GW if they come prepared and realize they still have to play to win and not just show up then we win big and easily. If we overlook RR and think we win just because we came to the field then it could be a long night. I'm optimistic that GW comes out ready and willing to smash heads and build some confidence going forward.
