Hail Mary with Intentional Tip forward

At first glance I thought this forward batting of the ball would be illegal? I guess not??

Any forward pass can be batted in any direction by any eligible receiver or defensive player. Because the pass had never been possessed, it is still a forward pass even though it is traveling backward at the time it was batted. Heads up play.

Agreed it was a very heady play. Guess we'll have to practice it some just in case!! Thanks for the reply.
