Upset of the playoff season.
If Phoebus comes out with overconfidence (read that as not respecting the Crabbers) and a boat load of penalties, it could spell trouble.

Phoebus will beat Hampton being Phoebus. No opponent is overlooked. That's how u get to a 46 game winning streak. Hampton has improved but was recently blown out by Warwick 3 weeks ago.

Obviously Phoebus. But is Hampton making real progress? Can this be a game within the next 2 years?

Phoebus already had that overconfident game this year when we played Bethel. They’re locked in now.

I remember when this game meant something.

Phoebus will win big
I remember pulling for Phoebus to beat Hampton. Then in 2001 they finally got over the hump. Now they have won 24 or the past 32 games. Not bad after losing 24 of the first 26 games.

Mari SHOWED OUT that game though. Bethel was definitely a good wake up call. But in typical Phantom fashion, y'all pulled through. I fully expect a win against Hampton. On paper, it should be a big win. Just keep those heads cool and focused.

2 things....

1) Are my eyes deceiving me or does Hampton have maybe 30 players on the team?

2) Are my eyes deceiving me even more or is Hampton's running back wearing #55???
yeah they got Nudy #55 running the rock for whatever reason. Nudy one of the most underrated players in the area. Leads PD in tackles and sacks

This seemed odd to me too. Why does Hampton have so few players dressed? Looks like by far the fewest I've seen for a Class 4 team all year.

Varina will put up a fight if they hold on today. Phoebus vs Maury would be a great matchup

To be honest, I've seen Lake Taylor win several state championships with 30-35 kids suited up. It's all about the talent and system.
Culture too. Is Phoebus gonna have anything for Hampton in basketball this year? I’m hearing the Crabbers gonna run it back.

Phoebus hasn’t been good in basketball in like 5 years lol and traditionally we are a mid PD team. The question is does Hampton have anything for Woodside because i seen them in a fall league game and man they might 3peat

Nobody in C5 beating Woodside 😂 outside of Varina and John Marshall, 804 public school basketball is very mid. Bird was like 30-2 and Woodside beat them boys like 52-28 in the ship. I was impressed with Hampton when they played Varina last year. Almost choked the game away but it was never in doubt IMO.. They had some hoopers and most were underclassmen outside the PG. 757 hoops gonna be really strong with King’s Fork, Churchland (if they’re 6’6 stud didn’t transfer) Oscar Smith, Norcom, Hampton, LT, Woodside and Maury. Know some teams out the beach can hoop too.

Let’s just say I haven’t seen the inside of Phoebus gym since like 2016-17 lol…basketball season at Phoebus was always something we watched after weight lifting until moms pulled up to take us all home

You probably a lil younger than me. When I was in high school yall had my dawg Tyree Lee, Breon Key, Troy Williams, JD3, Romoan Deloatch.. Yall were solid, that Eastern Region just had those craaaaazy good Hampton and Norcom teams.

No those are all my young boys. I’ll never forget that first year when Troy and JD were freshmen and the rest juniors. They whooped Norcom by 20 in a Christmas tourney but Norcom won the one that mattered then won the first of their state titles and the legend of DFS was born.

Never heard him called JD3 before but i remember when he was supposed be the next great Phoebus QB lol. Dope to see him elevate to the nations leading scorer.

Also B Key should’ve played football in college. He was a good basketball player but he has was a great football player. I think he could’ve played in NFL down the line. Romond should’ve never stopped playing DE..would’ve been at a way better school than Temple.

That basketball team had 5 starters who played D1 ball and somehow finished like 14-10. Probably wasn’t another team in the state with 5 D1 players in starting lineup

Petersburg with Moses Malone
Harrisonburg with Sampson
Patrick Henry , Roanoke with George Lynch

I think they also lost a couple due to lack of depth too.

I played against Hampton back in the late 90s as well as every other PD team. A Crabbers team with less than 60 was unheard of. My, how the times have changed....

BIG SHOUTOUT TO MY ALMA MATER THE WOODSIDE WOLVERINES. We walked (and got stomped) so Stef and the boys could run 4 times (hopefully 5!!!!)
