Seeing that L.C. Bird has only allowed 19 points this season and since they are not facing very potent offenses the last two weeks of the season, I was wondering about incredibly low points allowed totals you know of for REGULAR SEASON only.

I looked at some schools on VHSL-Reference.com and found that Hampton only allowed 23 in 1999. Phoebus only allowed 26 in 2008. Bird's school record is 33 in 1979 the second year the school was open.

I know John Marshall gave up 0 points for two consecutive years (1940 and 1941 I think).

So I'm not really interested in records, those can't be broken, but can you add any incredible totals to this list. I think it's pretty cool to shut down everyone on your schedule for 10 weeks.

It also reflects that some of these teams do not use blow outs to play their 2 and 3 rd string defenses for experience but more concerned with stats. Hampton had (has?) that reputation in the Tidewater area. I know Lafayette is quick in blow outs to put the subs in.

I remember graham hadn't given up any points thru their first 7 or 8 games back in the late 80's until they played salem. I don't know what their point total ended up being for the season.

I don't think that's an issue with Bird this year.

I think a really good defense is helped by a running clock sucking away the second half of a game in a hurry.

One of my favorite stats ever was that the 2008 Phoebus defense scored more points on the season than they allowed. Through the middle of the season, they scored a touchdown in seven straight games.

Yeah, I love stats like that. They might have had an winning record even if the offense never took the field and just immediately punted.

Here's some teams who's defenses scored at least as many as they allowed:

Bird's defense has scored six touchdowns this year, so they've scored 36 points while allowing 13 (one score was against their offense). Bird has three other return TD's from special teams.
