Heritage (11-4) 13-7 have now won 7 out of their last 8. Loudoun Valley (10-5) 12-7 has now lost three straight. Both have one district game left.

Waynesboro 3 Fort Defiance 2 in 8

Waynesboro (6-4) 12-6 Fort (5-6) 6-7. Waynesboro's Zack Brown 2 HR 3 RBI.

Anyone know why the Vikings' bats have suddenly gone silent. They've scored a total of five runs in their three losses. When I saw them two week ago, they hit well against a good pitcher from Woodgrove and scored six runs with two outs. Teams go into ruts now and again but Valley needs to realize that now is not the time to shut down.

Even so, I guess you've got to give Heritage its due. I don't know if its the same guy that blanked Pot Falls 1-0 last week, but if it is, Heritage has a gamer on the bump. Coach Price has his kids playing with "Pride." They could be a darkhorse come the Region II playoffs.

Last night Powhatan 15 Western Albemarle 3 New Edit

Did not see this until about 3:45 PM today. But Powhatan beat WA for a second time this season. Tyler Allen was 2-2 with 2 grand slams. I don't think I've ever heard of someone in Va. HS baseball doing that. With that loss WA is one game back of Monticello. Those two play today at WA. WA won the first game they played. Powhatan (4-4) 9-6 WA (6-2) 14-3. Monticello is (6-1) 12-2. Friday night Powhatan beat Louisa Co. 11-1 in 6 innings. Zack Bartlett when 4-4, 2B, 2 HRs and 5 RBIs. Powhatan (5-4) 10-6.

Re: Last night Powhatan 15 Western Albemarle 3

And just think, one of the top three is going to get left out of the Region II playoffs. The Jefferson only gets two in and that district might get the two spots to state again. Powhatan putting a hurt on WA proves the Indians still have some bite.

You gotta take this league over the Dulles right now for overall strength in the region.

Re: Last night Powhatan 15 Western Albemarle 3

This Region II is getting more interesting as we get closer to the playoffs. I still think that the Region III is the toughest of the four with at least seven teams that could win it.

A change is coming

Yes, WA was. But come next week, there will probably be a new number one from that league, if Monticello beats Western (and Momma Nature), in my rankings.

Powhatan will climb to at least No. 6 and I will still keep Western top-four, even if they by chance lose twice.

I hope for Pepper's sake, he is scouting these teams.

Re: A change is coming

I can't remember which team it was, but it was either Western A, or Albermarle AAA of Charlottesville that Warriors handled pretty easily in the preseason. Pepper is the best coach of the best team in the Northwestern. He is also one of the best coaches in the Region, I am sure he knows what he is doing more than you or me. The team with the best pitching, will win it all.

"Come on, Body, let's see what they've got" .....

They beat Albemarle in a scrimmage. Yeah, Pepper has been around the block a time or five.

It's clear as crystal. Sherando is going to have some off days from playing and I am sure a hour and a half drive south is worth it to see what you're up against. Scouting is paramount in this game. He and the pitch coach can either go south or head over the mountain and see what the Dulles has to offer. There should not be an "unknown" factor this time, all I'm saying.

Re: "Come on, Body, let's see what they've got" .....

Yeh I agree, if you want it bad enough- you have to prepare better than most everyone else. BTW, we will still be trying to get that Skyline game in on Wednesday. Why are you so worried about what Sherando is doing to prepare for the playoffs? Win or lose the boys will play hard, and give it a 100 percent. I know they want it. They can't help that there district schedule is weak, but at least they have tcb'd? Right? I actually am starting to think you would get a kick out of seeing them lose the " big" game.

Re: "Come on, Body, let's see what they've got" .....

I think you're getting the wrong impression here, Tribe follower. I'd like to see the Warriors win a few and get back to the AA playoffs for the first time in nine years. How would that be, for these kids, to do something that only one other team in the 20-year history of that school has done? Kind of special and a REAL sense of achievement. Just make it happen. Like I've said many times, teams from the Dulles and Jefferson have found a way. Why not SHS? They have plenty of talent, especially on the mound. If they get home field throughout the Region II playoffs, protect the field. All I'm saying, dog. This running its cycle thing needs to grind a path to Chief Knockahoma Field.

And for their (that's the word you need, hammy) weak district schedule, as you put it. Yeah, they can't help who they play for 12 (should be eight) games. But they CAN help who they play outside the district. Handley, Millbrook, and James Wood all played border teams. There should have been at least THREE border teams on the schedule this year and they would have had no trouble getting them on board. The Warriors already push aside Jefferson, Washington, and Musselman in football. Play them on the diamond. Stop scheduling the soft Evergreen teams like Kettle and Brentsville. Funny how the closest Evergeen team is the one they do not play. I think Sherando would still get two wins there and it would mean more than playing two teams from Nokesville that don't bring much at the gate.

I truly wish the best for the Sherando Warriors. You've got blinders on if you think otherwise. Let's get a team to the state playoffs, Chief!
