Holston vs Galax

It certainly does FEEL that Riverheads/Galax is the inevitable state title game in Augusta.

I know a bunch about Galax, but little about Holston other than the two schools are separated only by 64 miles. Because Galax has been there and done that makes them the fashion pick, but a couple things. Galax lost Dixon to Pulaski. Galax is still very well coached and has talent, but Dixon was a solid loss and it's tough to lose a coach like that and not miss a beat. Also, I understand the QB from Holston may not just be the best in his local area, but he may be the best High School QB at Any level west of Appomattox VA in the state of Virginia. From what I've read on swvasports, the accolades for this kid are that high and he is supposed to be that good and that kind of game changer. Calpreps projects the score as 35-19 in favor of Galax.. That's not really a bunch of points and not nearly what I think many would have suspected going just by name recognition. The Galax vs Holston game I think, will be closer than the Galax vs Narrows margin of victory. Holston may win the game.

If the Holston kid is as good as you guys say, then a Riverheads/Holston game might be more interesting than yet another Riverheads/Galax game, since it would match sophomore quarterback against sophomore quarterback. But of course we are focused now on West Point, so we will cross that bridge if and when we get to it.

He does seem like a good dual threat, but that’s a big statement as best west of Appomattox. I think Galax has a QB that might have something to say about that. Does anyone know what grade he is in?

Agree and on the Holston QB, I have not seen the kid. I am only reporting some of the accolades about this kid on swvasports. It's very lofty to say the kid might best High School QB west of Appo considering the likes of Galax, Graham, Tazewell, Abingdon, Union's QB and many others, but evidently, the kid is the real deal.

Just watched this kid for one half on NFHS game. Ummm, he's the real deal. I can see the hype. Running, passing accuracy, arm, incredible speed and quicks, I can see not more than 1 or 2 beating him out as a starter west of Appo. Incredible football player. But, Galax looks much better on the offensive and defensive lines to me compared to Holston and their defensive backs will create a ton of problems for the WR's of Holston getting separation. Tell ya this though, the QB for Holston, if he gets a step, it don't matter who it is on defense. He's housing it. Also, very accurate with the ball when he doesn't run.

I know comparing scores doesn't always work but there only common opponent is Grayson county. Holston lost week 1 to Grayson...and galax blew them out. Maybe some were still playing basketball at the time? If the QB is that good he should be able to beat Grayson by himself bc they weren't good this season. Holston could come out rusty since covid got them a playoff win Friday.

Tough matchup. Grayson is very big this year plus their first game. They had plenty of chances to win. They have gotten better as the year has gone on though.

The Holston QB may be as good as advertised, I have not seen him , but I know he hasnt faced a defense like he will be seeing in Galax. Holston has zero chance to win unless covid rears its ugly head again and decides the outcome.

The QB is very good on both sides of this one with the young man from Holston being more elusive. That said the lines will determine this game. Galax is as tough as nails so no doubt about what they will bring to the table on both sides of the ball as far as the trenches go. How do the Cavs matchup on the line? Can they impose their will and execute effectively? Should be a good one.

Galax appears to me, to be much better at the skilled positions and defensive secondary, wide receivers and running backs, but the lines appear to be close, but I favor Galax slightly. Again, the exception to everything above....the QB from Holston. He's the best athlete on the field on both sides of the ball and Galax has and has always had some stud athletes. But, the kid from Holston is on another level. I go with Galax 27-14

Just from the film I've watched on Holston it looks to me that Galax is better in the trenches than Holston on both sides of the ball which i think will be a big factor in this game. Holston QB is really good and I think this will probably be one of the defenses he has seen to date so we will see how that goes. Holston has a good team and I'm sure they will be ready to play. I'm just hoping Galax shows up and plays to there capabilities and pulls off the win.

i just seen on facebook, this game is fri night at 7, if so will someone have this game on youtube

Does anyone know why the Galax-Holston state semifinal game is being played on Friday instead of Saturday?
Was told Holston asked VHSL permission to play on Friday night and it was granted. Not sure why they wanted it Friday night but if Galax wins it just gives us extra day to rest and get ready for the state championship.
