Game Recap Holt Hot For Nansemond River

Matthew Holt was hot from the plate going 4 for 4 with three RBI to send Nansemond River to an 8-5 win over Kings Fork. The Warriors scored at least one run in every inning besides the fourth and there two runs in the top of the 7th inning gave them an 8-2 lead.

Holt, who is committed to Lasalle, singled in the 1st inning driving in a run and he followed that with an RBI double in the 3rd inning for a 3-1 lead. Holt added another single in the 5th inning to help the Warriors take a 4-1 lead.

Brendan Ratkovich, who walked and scored a run on a pass ball, scored another run on a wild pitch after leading off the 6th inning with a single. Nansemond River opened up a 6-run cushion in the 7th inning scoring two runs to go ahead 8-2 with Nick Lees delivering a 2-run single. Lees finished 2 of 4 from the plate with a run scored.

Jarrett Henderson allowed only two runs and six hits in six innings leaving with a 6-run lead. Kings Fork made it interesting scoring three runs off Andrew Halmrest in the bottom of the 7th inning before Gage Williams came in and struckout the final two batters he faced. Kings Fork catcher Greyson Milburn finished with two hits as did Blake Sargent.
