Hmmmmmmmm, might be time to fire up that BBQ for a visitor from Tidewater.

See people, even Rod Johnson, a venerable statue of integrity, has a price! Mind you, it's just BBQ, but a price, nonetheless.

Not sure how wise that is, some forecasts I viewed has it raining into Wednesday next week. Better to play tonight when fields are not saturated if that is reason for not playing.

Yeah, it was simply an educated guess. At the time the decision was made at about 10:00am, the forecast for our area was heavy rain moving over us at sundown, and the remnants of the low pulling off the coast Monday. It's like deciding whether to close for snow. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. One thing is for sure. The game will be played Monday! Monsoon or not.

Looks like the weather on Monday will cooperate but how much rain can Dinwiddie's field handle before swamping begins...

Is Dinwiddie still playing on grass? Only 3 of 10 BRD teams still have grass turf,

Dinwiddie field + Rain = HORRIBLE CONDITIONS!!!!!!!!! x INFINITY

Their field is awful with any type of rain as we found out playing there in 2013. Hopewell better have the long spikes ready and if they do Hopewell anything like they did us, they won't get on the field early because they don't want you to mess it up even more before the game. Honestly I hope they have taken care of their field problems because it was terrible in the playoffs in 2013.

To be honest the only high school field I have seen that has a nice natural surface is Louisa. The other natural surfaces we have played on are like playing on cow pastures. Just play in the rain. I am sure a few other schools have nice fields but most are probably bad.

Hold up Mike. New field was installed last year. New drainage, proper grade, the whole nine yards. The field conditions are superb. The playability of the field was not part of the reason for rescheduling.

THANK YOU JESUS!!!! That field was terrible!!!! Great job by the Dinwiddie folks identifying that the field was a problem and getting that fixed. Now the press box has to be next on the list!!! Lol

Our's is not college level, but probably one of the best high school surfaces in the state, now. Mike was absolutely correct. The field conditions for the 2013 LT game were horrible. But we both played on the same field conditions, if that was a failed attempt to make an excuse for getting beat? Mike, you know we played 9 games, and then yours on that field. Nobody's' field would have held up to that. And then it rains buckets all night before that game. We honestly were afraid the officials were going to declare the field unplayable. But the White Hat laughed and said, "you have nothing to worry about. We have played on fields 10 times this bad". If nothing else, that game served to get the school system to "find the money" to do what should have been done 10 years before.

Now, if one of you wealthy folks wants to stroke a check for a million or so, we will be glad to have a new turf field installed ASAP!

It is. Since you were here, new field house, new restrooms, and remodeled concession stand. And the field surface, of course. I'm hoping that the end of budget year money will allow for a new press box. The existing press box dates to the 60's and has a bit of historical value. It was built by the kids in the early days of vo-tech efforts. We got a quote to move it and raise it. Way more than made sense. It doesn't sit on the 50, because the field was shifted about 20 yards many moons ago. So there is adequate room to add another higher bleacher section with the press box on top. Various ideas have been floated on how to utilize the old box when the time comes. My opinion is turn it into an "out of the weather" facility for handicapped and elderly. But, that's down the line.

By the way, I was just poking fun about the bailed excuse.

LOL...Not looking to make an excuse we didn't execute and ya'll did. I'm just saying it was bad. I remember talking to coaches from Norcom or Heritage forgot which one and they said the same thing. No doubt nothing like your team playing in a big game and the higher ups seeing some of the shoddy conditions that you have to deal with and people asking them questions. That money pops up from somewhere. Last season is when we finally got our field house we used to have to walk all the way back to the school or stay in the cold.

Amazing how administrators like to jump on board when you win a championship, isn't it. Regardless, I'm glad our kids, yours and our's, are the beneficiary of their hard word and sacrifice.

Never got to the Hopewell side of the field Wednesday. Got their late, and left at half time, 50-0. I'll meet your daughter and Dad somewhere along the way.

Hammy said Sherando dealt with the same "home cooking" officiating in WV that you did in NC. We had a good laugh about that. He said one official visibly shrugged his shoulders and sighed when Sherando intercepted a pass.

And Mike, are they still trying to turn your school, actually the high school, into the hybrid Vo-Tech center? If they ramrod it through, when would it most likely happen? I guess if they are successful, LT will cease to exist, except maybe in name?

We had a city councilman who played at LT in the 80's and in 2012 he was the biggest supporter once we made it to Charlottesville. Had NEVER seen him at a game but he didn't mind expressing how he's been behind the team all season. I got a big laugh out of that. Yea my dad was at a training in South Boston so he missed the game, but my sister said it was UGLY to say the least.

Sorry DP I don't want to sound like an old Dinwiddie Historian but that press box was built in the mid 80's. Those was my little league days when they had this old looking wooden press box (eye sore). I think it was replaced my last year of little league or my first year of Jr high.

That's the talk, but with some many accreditation problems in Norfolk and them shifting a lot of schools to K-8 I will believe it when I see it. Probably at least 3-5 years out. We don't even have a superintendent right now we're still looking for a replacement for the last one we bought out.

Typical dis-functional government. The much over used cliche, "it is what it is", applies, I guess!

Was it built as a vo-tech project? And the 80's seems recent, until I look in the mirror!

If throw a wide reciever or flanker screen behind the line of scrimmage , there no illegal man down field for a O linemen. Got called for that several times, plus they took a down away several times for no apparent reason. WV officiating is hit and miss, glad it wasn't a close game because they don't know the rules.

Like Devils last week. Cherish the "W" and move on. Excellent teaching tool for the coaches about how adversity comes in many forms.
