Hopewell is extremely loaded and they are well coached. They are big up front, have athletes everywhere, they are quick and they play pretty good defense. I'm rooting for Phoebus, but I just dont know. Lafeyette, Norcom and others are good but to me Hopewell is the team to beat. #4 The Henderson kid reminds me of Percy Harvin, seriously. They beat a well coached Div#4 Dinwiddie team tonight by two TDs. Wow! I am impressed.

I agree, based on results they are the clear favorite. Are they primarily a running team or do they pass quite a bit from the spread like so many HS now?

They can run and pass but if they struggle with the pass the put # 4 Henderson at qb and run the spread offense through him. He has been unstoppable. Check out the link against a good well coached Dinwiddie team:

Thanks- will look at the video this weekend. But Dinwiddie who this year does not field one of their better teams did something right in the first half as they lead 13-6.
Putting # 4 at QB sounds like the veer at LT with Newton.

Reviewed the film for the first half-will the rest tomorrow. Hopewell had a few good runs when the LB forgot to contain the edge. Hopewell does that shotgun option with one RB. Their passing is ok but the QB running (nicely) and hand off to Henderson are the main plays- they like to slip Henderson out to receive a few times. Dinwiddie basically runs the spread and passes mostly with Qb option to run fairly often. Their running game is quite limited. Lafayette’s offense is 180 degrees different with 5 quality backs with speed. I look forward to 2nd half film when things significantly changed.

Henderson is nice forreal. Hopewell will be a great opponent. Phoebus is stacked this year with a team that's been playing with eachother since middle school so it should be a good one. Hope to get the game, but don't sleep on Norcom this year! They have the talent to beat anyone.

Norcom with be a handful for anyone getting them.

No disrespect but I dont think Lafeyette can beat Hopewell. Not this year but that's my opinion. If they played I would pull for the Rams to win. You mentioned Dinwiddie not having its best team in a while, but remember, Dinwiddie plays in arguably the toughest region in the state in the Central region. Dinwiddie is good but just lost some tough, close games. The adjustment by Hopewell in the first half was to involve Henderson more in the offense. They've got great athletes but Henderson is the key. The Rams can grind the ball and a they have a good defense. That could give them a good chance to upset Hopewell if they played.

Hopewell has already played Norcom this year, although it was game 1 it was a pretty lopsided game.
That is true but Hopewell beat them last year in the first game but lost to them in the playoffs. Norcom is playing better ball now but I still would lean towards Hopewell to win in a closer game in the playoffs.

Phoebus is stacked with athletes but can the contain Henderson. That is the question. Norcom couldnt do it in the first matchup. Whoever come out of 3A will be battle tested for sure.

The west will be represented well with either the Region C or D champion. Lord Botetourt has 7 players with D1 offers, and I'm not sure they will get past Heritage. It should be a Great Final.

It would be interesting if it happens to see Lafayette’s wing T with multiple Backs and two large TE’s fare. Dinwiddie’s running game was non existent except for the QB keeper, so Hopewell just could unleash the pass rush which was pretty good. If you run the spread you still need a good running game to take the heat off the rush. The Hopewell O does challenge any defense as Henderson is elusive and fast, #3 is a good RB and hurts you when you key on #4. And the QB real threat is on the keeper and they pass enough to keep you honest. Don’t know if it will happen with 5 excellent teams in Region A.

Henderson is the most explosive running back that I have personally ever watched play at the high school level. If Hopewell had the option to not play him on defense and special teams, he would be all but unstoppable. If you can't get a hat on him as soon as he has the ball in his hands, it is off to the races. He runs through "high" tackle attempts like he was untouched. His straightaway speed is unbelievable, equaled only by his acceleration. I foresee him as a starter at a top D1 school as a freshman. He dinged his ankle in the fourth quarter, but came back in a few plays later.

Is Henderson a Jr as identified on Maxpreps or a Sr? I was surprised on the Dinwiddie film that on that one KO that actually kicked to him!

#3 RB is the third running back, Briggs is the normal #2 back with Trey. Briggs is nasty and is highly underrated because shares the backfield with Trey. If he gets healthy I don’t see anyone even having a shot of beating them.

Upsets happen, especially when no one expects. Ask Wisconsin yesterday. 31 point favorites, poof!

He is a junior, I'm pretty sure.

That KO was not supposed to go down the middle of the field.

Yes he’s a junior c/o 2021. Fun fact his older brother is the running from a couple years ago #32Ronnie Walker Jr currently Indiana University’s second back. #23 @ IU
I think Bleeding Navy had told me that. There are some darn good genes in that family.

Great breakdown. I think he has the potential to be the best back to come out of Virginia in a long time and that includes players like Ford, Walker, Slade and Laborn.
