I realize that this is a high school board but congrats to Virginia on winning a Natty. I believe that this may be their what 25th overall? If anybody knows correct me. But to some only football, basketball and baseball matter. I disagree with this and love all sports that my favorite school is involved in , mens or womens. But if the big three do rule then UVA has 2 out of 3. Just saying.

I had us at 26 total, but my wife was quoting from some fan site. May not have been a NCAA Varsity sport for the other. And I just had this conversation. You can call them money making sports (football/basketball), but winning it all in any sport is dang difficult. No team sport "matters" more than another...except golf. (Just kidding)

Agree that to get to that point is very difficult. Former lacrosse coach Dom Starsia said that after winning UVAs last Natty in lacrosse. He said I hope everyone just realizes how difficult it is even to get to this point and then to win the whole thing. We take these things for granted.

at least you were able to pin in the basketball area.:D
I wonder how many folks in Hooville went to work today
or even able to get out of bed

ODU's sailing team has won a bunch. Field Hockey, and women's hoops, all titles at the D1 level. A strong chance they get to 30 in the next two years as their sailing team is very talent for at least the next 2-3 years. They return every member from last year and will return them for next year.

Am I confusing sailing with rowing ? Two different sports maybe. I know UVA won one in rowing. I did not realize ODU had won that many. Kudos to them because it IS an accomplishment to win it all no matter the sport.

Yep, Sailing. There last title was 2014ish over 2nd place UCLA, and 3td place Cal-Berkeley. Also, Hampton University has a sailing team that's very good historically, and has some top 10 finishes.

Some of my friends have a favorite school in this sport and another school for this sport and another school for this sport. Get my drift. And most of them are tops in that sport, LOL. Term is front runner I believe. I have one college I really like and that is MY school. I keep up with a lot of sports teams from different colleges but I name UVA as my school. I pull for their teams in all sports even the low revenue ones and mens and womens. Just me. So I recognize that revenue sports bring in money for all but to the athletes, parents, etc sailing is just as important as basketball or football. Again just me.

Yep, I hear ya colonel 72. Regarding the Hoos, those boys have got to be the favorite to win it next year also. Of course, that depends on what Guy and Jerome do. I'm sure Hunter is leaving early. He's a first rounder. With Virginia"s win, it just solidifies their quality over what is likely a long time for the future because of what it does for recruiting. Good coaches can recruit and Bennett is an elite level coach and he can recruit. Going to final fours and winning titles also helps recruiting, so for Virginia, odds are they are going to be an elite program for a long time. Of course crazy stuff can happen, but odds are they aren't going anywhere for a long time.

I also think Bennett's system is just fine. I would disagree with some that have stated UVA can't win a title with that system. Bennett didn't have the offensive firepower in the past as this year and Charles Barkley touches on this. That's why they didn't get to the final four or win it the last 2-3 years prior to this year. They showed the system is fine and they can win it, and that's because if the tempo gets faster then what they are used to, they can still score and win a game in the 70s and 80s like they did against the Red Raiders. The difference this year and for the future is/will be, the offensive weapons. Congrats to UVA on winning the national title.

As far as some people only counting Big 3, it really depends on their side of the argument. And that usually comes because of a rivals opposite view.

Most people are on one side of the UVA/VT fight, and hate the other. I don't dislike either, but I know I'm in the minority. But what I tend to see with that debate is these two things, during football, "we beat yall again, you aren't as good." So the comeback is "we are so much better in the other sports." And then you see when other sports/championships are talked about "we have a championship in x", the reply is "well that isnt a real championship or doesn't mean as much as ours in x"

There is also some who ONLY care about 1 sport or another, unless it benefits their major points.

What would be interesting, and take out the posters who haven't posted in last 6 months, is find the people across all these boards who jumped all over UVA, and Tony Bennett after UMBC. Then see if they have said a word after Monday night.

Wow. I did not know that !!! They used to have a great girls basketball program but 28? Were they all D1 or what?

AIAW champions for Womens Basketball a couple of times if I'm not mistaken. Must hold the same weight as an NCAA championship because there wasn't a women's tournament?

UVA might just win another national title tomorrow, this time for lacrosse. They've played the part of "Cardiac Cavs" for the lacrosse playoffs as well so I expect tomorrow to be no different. Not a fan of the Cavaliers but I do wish them the best.
