Greetings from Kellam High School in Virginia Beach as the Knights (14-3) play host to the visiting Landstown Eagles (9-7) in a matchup that is pivotal for playoff ramifications when it comes to Class 6, Region A.

Coming into today, Landstown is currently the #8 seed, while Kellam is tied for the #2 seed. All eights teams have clinched that are in, but seeding remains to be determined as we near the end of the regular season.

This game also has significance because it's the much-anticipated return of Eagles junior forward Michael Christmas. After earning 6A State Player of the Year honors as a sophomore and helping Landstown capture a regional title, Christmas transferred in the off-season to Huntington Prep (WV). But he recently returned to the Virginia Beach school he starred at the past two years.

Great crowd for this one... updates, stats, photos and more to come....

Without him, Landstown is starting Christmas, Thomas Washington, Kamilo Evans, Christian Jones and Deante Mobley. They have some capable pieces off the bench too, including PG Tisheed Jones.

Good start for Kellam. Coach Norman Hassell has to be pleased, but you know Coach Dwight Robinson and his Eagles will make some adjustments, particularly with their pressures/traps defensively.

Fun Fact - Mason is the grandson of Jack Ankerson, longtime public address announcer for the Norfolk Tides and at Old Dominion, plus was GM of the Virginia Squires and Asst. GM of the San Antonio Spurs.

The guy known as 'Dee-Dee,' has been dropping dimes all half long. Kellam needs to get the tempo back in its favor and control things in the half-court. The faster pace seems to favor Landstown in this one.

The Eagles have been solid defensively, but one thing Kellam has done on offense is draw a lot of fouls (7 to be exact). So if they can take advantage of that in the 4th quarter, it should be tight to the end.

Kellam not shooting it as well as they usually do. Of course, having their 2nd leading scorer and top 3-point shooter - Brandon Cline - depart for Bishop Sullivan a couple weeks ago hasn't helped their perimeter attack.
