The Commonwealth district is always one of the toughest districts. Colonial Forge is still clinging to life after the elder Brown retired.Glad to finally see the Springers in Chesapeake! We expect nothing but a battle like the old Ocean Lakes games for the Region A Championship games.
BTW, who predicted that Colonial Forge would be in the mixed for the Class 6 Reg B title?
I'd love to see that, but James Madison might be a tough out. Lake Braddock is looking good tonight and has live commentary on NFHS.Oscar Smith may just win 6A this year now
Nothing they’re just running wildcat with the rbWhat happened to Smith’s QB?
That wildcat offense of Smith's is tough to stop. But their D was lights out & better than that. The Springers had plenty of chances to score but couldn't. Their only TD was due to the DB slipping on that play. Smith's QB still lost focus a bit at times but this was the most complete game for the Tigers overall.Nothing they’re just running wildcat with the rb
D. Overton was their D Coordinator @ C. Forge under Senior Brown before taking that Freedom job. What a contrast in coaches those 2 turned out to be. Although C. Forge had their share of transfers back in the day, too.
Had to log back into this account after years to say shhhhhh chill everyone has let’s not forget the BriQuan Harrell fiasco lmaaoooD. Overton was their D Coordinator @ C. While I’m here I’ll also add some context for those that would understandably be out of the loop with Forge’s program the last few years:The Commonwealth district is always one of the toughest districts. Colonial Forge is still clinging to life after the elder Brown retired.
Good information. Powerhouse coaching staff. While I’m here I’ll also add some context for those that would understandably be out of the loop with Forge’s program the last few years:
Old Brown retired after 2017. First two years under Young Brown went extremely well but then the program declined a bit. Still had some decent talent but nothing like they had throughout the 2010s and it really went downhill after covid along with the loss of some great assistants. Old Brown rejoined the staff last year as an assistant and things turned around immediately. I don’t know how much control he has with this team but I hesitate to call the turnaround a coincidence given Old Brown’s track record. I do think Young Brown is a very good coach nonetheless and Old Brown’s return also happened to coincide with a couple of talented classes now coming to fruition. Also, Joe Mangano (the long time North Stafford head coach when they were routinely making deep runs in Class 5 in the 2010s) joined the staff as a coordinator too & his sons both start. I don’t think it’ll be a coin flip kind of game with Smith the way it was in 16, 17 & 19 but this has been a pleasant surprise and I think bodes well for their future.
Idk they looked like they’re playing their best ball rn. Looked dominant in that second half against Patriot yesterday. Could closer than you thinkWhile I’m here I’ll also add some context for those that would understandably be out of the loop with Forge’s program the last few years:

Yes, I should clarify! They have a lot of impressive talent and they’re playing their best ball right now. This is more that I’m more impressed with this Smith team than I was the 16-19 teams. Forge also had a couple of teams that went down to Chesapeake in the semis in 13 & 14 and got absolutely beat down. I think this matchup will be somewhere in the middle, probably a 10-14 point difference but Forge is 100% capable on their best day. This definitely isn’t Forge’s best team that’s made it this far but sometimes it’s the year you don’t expect it to happen that sneaks up on you, who knows.Idk they looked like they’re playing their best ball rn.
