Huge upcoming Region A Volleyball contest- 6-1 Rapp at 7-1 Northumberland

The Lady Raiders of Rappahannock (6-1) travel this week to Northumberland (7-1) to take on the Lady Indians in a massive Volleyball battle with NND, Region, and possible State implications.

Game is Tuesday at NHS. JV starts at 5:30 pm.

The Raiders started off 6-0 before falling to a great 2A King William squad this past week in the 5th set (in extra points). Crowd was great and loud. Student section was jumping. NHS volleyball was there to observe.

Fans (new) in the audience said "Wow, I cannot believe how many people come to Volleyball. It is so exciting and fun but so stressful!"

Northumberland just defeated 2A Nandua in 5 sets on the Eastern Shore to go 7-1.

The Indians only loss was to Middlesex, one of the top teams (probably in the state) this year. Rapp defeated Middlesex 3-2 earlier this season in a comeback thriller.

Both teams are VERY good. Slight edge to Rapp imo. The KW win was a surprise. They were a good team last year but that win was a shock to me. Did KW have some new kids move in or new coaching? No offense to the players/coaches @ KW. Either way that was a BIG win.

Rapp defeated KW at KW 3-1. KW is very good though with two very tall girls, their main star is just a sophomore.

The recent game at RHS, the Raiders won the 1st set like 25-13. Maybe got too relaxed, played poorly 2nd set, KW got hot, tall girls came alive. KW won the next two. The next two sets went into extra points with KW pulling it out in the 5th set. Very exciting.

Sometimes a Loss can be the best thing to happen to a team (as long as it is not in the playoffs, of course lol).

Essex and Lancaster are also doing well I hear. Middlesex Is great and Mathews is returning to form I’m sure.

Essex plays defending champ W&L Tuesday. Should be an indicator if Essex is as good as their record indicates.

With a large crowd and competing student sections, Northumberland jumped to a 2-0 lead by coming out of the gate hot and winning fairly decisively.

The Lady Indians had the lead in the third set and looked to be in control. Rappahannock came back and won the 3rd set in extra points.

Rapp won the 4th set in convincing fashion to force the 5th set. Rapp won the game in a tight final set.

Raiders win 3-2. Very exciting and well played by both clubs. These two teams may see each other a few more times.

Essex fell to W&L, last years NND champ.

Essex is now 6-2.
