Is More Realignment On Horizon?

I read that in the TD this morning. It appears the VHSL is lost as to what to do. They do appear to want to delegate everything down and let individual regions, districts, sectionals, and probably even individual schools do whatever they want.
This would be a mistake in my opinion. VHSL needs to design a format and implement it statewide. The smallest school in SWVA and the largest school in Northern Virginia should both play by same rules. With schools located all over the state, someone is going to have to travel. They should start by eliminating the higher seed host bull______, and use centralized venues for playoffs. this will eliminate most of long distance travel concerns that now exist.

Teams still should be rewarded for being high seeds but to build on your idea, maybe when there is distance between schools greater than say an hour or two, maybe have a mutual site picked so that there isn't such distance and time.

As far as your take on statewide format, I agree with you on that. I get what they want to do and I get that schools aren't happy with the latest realignment but with that said, you can't have a whole state doing it their own ways. If that's the case, then what do we need the VHSL for? Why not just have separate associations or leagues around the state for each area if that's the case.

Example: It makes no sense for a school in the old Region A, to travel to a school in old Region D for a game. They could find a site halfway, and play the game.

I think the schools complaining the most are the schools around Richmond area.

I don't see an issue with any of this. It tells me the VHSL is continuously looking for ways to improve and they are engaging the people, State and schools they serve in discussion and feedback. No one can please everyone but at least the VHSL is trying to set the goal of being the best HS athletic governing body in the Country. You can't be the best if you don't solicit the ideas and feedback of those you serve. That's all they're doing here.

I think the playoffs are too hard to understand as they are, and I honestly think that keeps interest down.

You need brackets that can be printed in the paper like the NCAA basketball tournament for every sport. The heck with the lose in a certain round and you still get to advance stuff.
