Is this thing still on?

It's still working. News about Northside will get the Roanoke Valley contingent back online in the near future and once July 4 passes it is all downhill to the preseason workouts.

When ole Mike Salem doesn't have anything to discuss, you KNOW things are slow.

This isn't football, but Dinwiddie baseball plays at Jamestown tonight at 6:00. A win puts them in the regional championship game, which gets them a berth in the States. There is only one small obstacle in the way. Or maybe I should say, one tall obstacle. It seems that Jamestown has a 6'7" NCST commit that throws in the low to mid 90's.

But oh well, that's why they play the game! Wish us luck.

"Cut", was it you or "Spartan" that posted the countdown clock for football practice to start? Whoever, would you please post it again on its own thread so I can look at from time to time. It may help placate us some!

Good luck to the Generals! You guys are at the same point Salem was yesterday. Baseball has had the least success at the state level of all our boys sports over the years; in fact, I think the Spartans have only reached the state tourney once, in '88, our last season in AAA. So I was fervently hoping the guys could beat Kettle Run in the regional semis yesterday. Alas, the Cougars rolled to a 15-1 win. I hope your Generals can clear that hurdle that we couldn't. Be patient and make the big guy work for his outs. Maybe he tires easily.

It wasn't me who had the countdown clock. What happened to our team-by-team discussion? We still didn't get to Glass or Fleming in the West (not that there's tons to talk about there). If you want to go back to shark attacks, I'm sure everyone saw on the news that a woman training for a triathlon got hit (thankfully non-fatally) by a large white shark in Southern California over the weekend.

Like everybody, I guess, there have been a lot of things going on. But yes sir, I will get on the ball and start back tonight with the team by team discussions.

Thanks for the encouragement. One good thing, no one expected us to have a chance to even get out of conference play, so it will be a successful season regardless of the outcome tonight. Hopefully the big kid gets rattled. I harken back to UVA playing Strasburg at San Jose St. in the college playoffs a few years ago. He was supposed to be unbeatable. I believe they chased him by the second inning. So there is always hope.

Maybe Kettle Run will win it all? There is always some satisfaction to getting beaten by the eventual state champion.

Yeah, I saw the news on the shark attack on the west coast. And wasn't there one on the east coast, too? Maybe down Florida way?
