I don’t know what SB and NS are playing on,but HSHS and Maury are going to play on a VERY soft, wet, muddy, grass field. Speed will be reduced drastically and ball security will be a premium! Any thoughts on either game in the rain is welcome, and I already know, both teams have to deal with it,but I want other thoughts. Who does it hurt more/help more in EACH game?!

SB is turf so the surface will be fine. And the rain, at least up here, is supposed to be light and possibly intermittent. Weather will be a factor, but not as bad as some previous weeks.

HSHS’s field was already tough on the footing. More rain is gonna make footing treacherous. I don’t see a lot of quick change of direction. I expect a lot of straight ahead running, and short passes. I know Maury loves to screen pass, and HSHS loves the short game too. By the second half, the middle of the field could be “mud central”. Kicking game could be an adventure! Idk about Maury, but HSHS has a very good kicker and the QB is also the punter.

Gonna be a nasty one

The Saturday forecast for the Richmond area is calling for some drizzle in the morning and light intermittent showers in the afternoon. The current bone dry conditions are drying the already soaked field. So, at this point, I don't think it's going to be a sloppy mess Saturday. It may be damp, but not a deluge! The way I'm hearing it, there are 2 weather systems, 1 passing to the north, the other to the south. They could miss us all together.... in all.... not calling for a lot of rain!

Getting conflicting forecasts. One is saying, light rain starting late Friday night followed by off & on rain Saturday. The other is saying, light rain starting overnight Friday into Saturday, and continuing during the day. A third is saying what u just said. Either way...a wet “track” is expected. Just like the Henrico game!

I believe that the forecast for the state championship Saturday is already calling for rain. I realize it is several days away but this rain streak interfering with HS football games is incredible!
