Altavista would hang with JF for at least a half and I think would be leading. But I think come the fourth quarter JF's numbers would finally be able to take over the game. As are as passing not being the big deal in the game, I take that to mean that you think running would. Remember JF's stud running back Navy Jones was the third string running back for Altavista last year behind the Brown and Moon... so maybe the size of JF's line would help but Altavista would be there.
I think Altavista wins about 30 minutes of the game and JF wins the last 18... so the question is would Altavista be able to build a big enough lead to hold off. I don't think so. I think JF would win in a comeback... 42-35 ish.
JF hasn't gone against a good defense all year like us . And JF doesn't play defense, we would score a hole lot more then we would give up . Only score I compare to is Appomattox game when they beat them 41-27 , we beat them 50-6 just saying
Didnt dan river hold altavista to 13 points or did i just dream that score. No way Altavista hangs with JF. That game would not be even close...........
You must have had a dream about it because it was 14 not 13. Just saying....also you really can't compare scores with teams played because we all know that teams do different game plans a schemes depending on who they are playing.
I've watched both teams this year and had the unpleasant experience of trying to stop Altavista skill players years ago..I think Altavista would beat JF 41-35 whoever turn the ball over the most would lose in a game like this..
Altavista is good enough to beat larger schools, but 1A over 4A is a lot to ask. It's like saying Giles could beat Briar Woods and even I wouldn't say that. I'm sure the Colonels could beat some average 4A teams, but come on, JF is undefeated and pretty darn good. JF by at least 8.
Wasn't JF's best player 3rd string running back at Altavista? Altavista is much better than you 4A people think. They also beat Rustburg much easier than JF did.
Navy Jones was third string running back but was a starting wide receiver/punt returner/d back for the Colonels. The two like opp. were Appomattox (43-27 JF, 46-7 Altavista - two weeks apart) and Rustburg (49-20 JF; 34-0 Altavista- back to back weeks). I think it would be a dogfight.
Tarheel why would wish your own school to lose every game that's the most crazies thing I ever herd . It's know wonder Yall can't keep a coach I don't blame them for getting out of there, the way Gretna fans act .Always support your school no matter what and if you got a problem go talk to the AD .
When a team can throw the ball as well as Altavista, it adds a whole new ball game. Most high school teams cannot play good pass defense. Spread JF out and they'd be lost.
I don't think we'll shutout JF but I know are defense could keep them under 20 and I know are offense would score a lot . JF defense is not very good there giving up over 20 to 30 points a game . In my opinion that's not a championship team. If Heritage had our defense they would have easily have beaten JF. I think Heritage Scored like 40 some points against them . But it's no need to keep talking about it because will never get to play them. Well Focus on West Point as I'm sure there looking for the upset win on the road . But it's been fun talking about it any way . I like to
See Salem play JF that should be one heck of a game I think Salem would beat them by 2td or more .
Altavista's offensive scheme is the best I have seen this season. I would hate to be a defensive coordinator trying to defend it. It's the perfect example of how a high school offense should be run.
I'm not sure JF would be lost. I'm not saying Altavista couldn't throw the ball against them, but I don't know that JF would be lost. I've seen you post that Heritage passes better than most teams in the area and look what happened to my Pioneers when they played the Cavs.
HR6, you are beginning to talk about altavista like you have in the past about your beloved hokies. For years you talked about VT being a top ten team when in reality they were a top 40 team at best for the past 5 years. Put tech in the sec and they would be lucky to play 500 ball............
Utkrazy your just full of negativity today . Yes Altavista drop out and now there playing for the 3 state Championship . Nelson is dropping out next year you going to bash them as well?
Just stating a fact. I will admit Altavista has a very talented ball club and are the odds on favorite to win another state title. They would beat the majority of 2A teams playing in the state playoffs however just dont think they would beat JF after seeing both teams play. Just my opinion however you have every right to disagree..........
That's fine with the JF opinion , I was referring to you stating Altavista dropping out then you started to talk about VA Tech on hr6 board . No where on here anybody was talking about va tech on here .
