Kickoff out of bounds or not ?

Thankfully this wasn't a factor in the game tonight. Ball is kicked off, it rolls along the sideline and clearly stays in bounds. it hits the front pylon. Is this out of bounds and a penalty or is it a touchback ?

If the ball hits the pylon before going out of bounds I believe it is a touchback as the edge of the pylon marks the edge of the goal line as well as out of bounds. If the ball in possession of a ball carrier touches the pylon without the ball carrier otherwise going out of bounds, it is a touchdown so by the same reasoning it should be a touchback.

If it touches the front of the pylon without touching OOB first, it would be a touchback.

Thanks. It did in fact hit the front of the pylon before it went out of bounds and was not touched by anyone. I know refs have a tough job but this one seemed to be a no brainer.

Was it called oob with a penalty?
