I heard the same thing. 10 K&Q players under quarantine.Message I received was because of Covid protocols and no makeup date has been announced as of this time. Hopefully it will get made up as this game would have a lot of power points riding on it plus it would go a long way in determining seeding in Region 1A
Oh okay. I didn't hear what team was even affected. I'm still on the roto call for KQ schools from when I coached there a couple of years ago, so that's how I heard about it.I heard the same thing. 10 K&Q players under quarantine.
I would suggest Saturday 10/23. KQ should just be coming back by then and there schedule is open that Friday. WP has a game Friday 10/22 vs Matthews. No offense to the Devils but I would suspect either a forfeit or a game that West Point could "manage" it's roster and still be fresh to play on Saturday.I think K&Q may have been the only program in the spring or thus far this fall not being the responsible party for a COVID postponement. Sorry to hear this. Hope they can fit it in but will be difficult to do with West Point filling up the rest of its season with 7 games in about 2 1/2 weeks.
You can’t play two days in a row. That’s stupid no matter who you are playing.I would suggest Saturday 10/23. KQ should just be coming back by then and there schedule is open that Friday. There's no rule that says you can't and again if you read and think about what I said. Matthews is a likely forfeit and even if they don't West Point has just enough depth that they should probably be able to take care of business AND keep their core group of starters off the field.....Frankly, if you look at the schedule it is the only realistic option with the King William game on 10/29. It would be far worse to play KQ on Monday and KW on Friday. Than to play Matthews on Friday with mostly backups and KQ on Saturday. Thus giving the team nearly a full weeks rest before they play KW/W&L/Nandua over the course of 8 days to end the season.
As a Dad I think it sucks, and I don't know what the rules are for forfeits. But I do know that's a district game and I bet we'll have to play the game. And if I have to send my son out on short rest. I'd rather take a manageable risk with Mathews and KQ in 24 hours than KQ on a Monday then KW Friday then W&L Tuesday then Nandua Friday.....With the KQ issue this week it allows us to get healed up for Bruton on 10/18. So going into a Mathews/KQ back to back might not be so bad.....but again, none of it's good. But we're going to have to get creative to get these games in.If they can’t reschedule, KQ would have to forfeit. No Coach in their right mind would play two days in a row. You just had a rough go playing Friday and Monday. As a Dad I’m sure you think it is OK, but you have maybe 20-25 kids on your 1A team? Didn’t you say you already have 3 starters out? Too much to ask of kids. Just my opinion.
Not a forfeit if the reason is COVID. Your points would be divided on how many games you actually played. If they can’t reschedule, KQ would have to forfeit. It can be a forfeit. VHSL suggests doing everything to reschedule if possible. If they can't, then both teams are supposed to agree on the outcome as a no contest or a forfeit from the team that is unable to compete. If they don't agree and they are in the same district, then a district committee decides. Not a forfeit if the reason is COVID. Your points would be divided on how many games you actually played.
