Lancaster beat Buffalo Gap 54-44 in the Class 1 state quarterfinals Friday night. Coming into Friday's game Lancaster was sporting a 23-1 record. The consensus throughout the state is that Lancaster is the favorite to win the state champion in division 1. Lancaster got off to a quick start, forcing BG into three turnovers in its first five possessions and jumping to a 12-4 lead. Lancaster's freshman sensation Troy Henderson hit a 3 then followed with a layup to boost his team to an 11-point lead after a quarter. Lancaster will now face Washington & Lee for the fourth time in the state semifinals. Washington & Lee beat Altavista 65-57. The Red Devils were not rank in any polls at the beginning of the season.
