Lee @ Appomattox is Saturday @ 2pm

WOW?! Its a 4 hours 50 minute drive (some say 5 hours with traffic). Lee county is last county going out of VA. Saw on twitter them saying its the longest trip of all the 1st round drives statewide in any division.

Lee at Appomattox?! Let's hope that goes better for the Generals than it did the last time. [Just kidding - no dog in this fight.]

Salem ventured to Lee for the state semis in 1990. Over four hours going out. It seemed like eight hours coming back - Lee won 19-0.

Lee won? So it went well for them. Lol

That is correct. Lee to Appo is the longest by distance and time. According to Google, the shortest route is 278 miles (4 hrs 50 mins). The next longest trip of the first round by miles is in 1A. Covington has to travel 222 miles (3 hrs 47 mins) to J.I. Burton. The next longest trip by time is in 1A too. Parry Mccluer has to travel 3 hrs 53 mins to Hurley. Both still an hour less than Lee traveling to Appo.

Just an FYI, comes up every year, there's no "county" in Lee High School's name. Lee County has two high schools: Lee High and Thomas Walker.
Didnt know that! Thanks for the correction, I will speak with the ones on Appomattox Facebook Page to let them administration know that it is "Lee High School"

Arcadia has to travel 228 miles, 4+ hours to get to Clarke.

Thank you. It's not a big thing but I find it more out of respect for TW than anything. Another tidbit, county and the school is named after Richard Henry Lee, instead of Robert E. Lee like most "Lee's" elsewhere are.

I do not know if it is the case in this situation, but typically the coach gives the 'up man' on the punt team a green light to call a fake anytime he thinks he can pick up the first down. I would imagine that the coach did not call this play, but I cannot speak for him.

Should I ask why?
From what I seen from the stands, Head coach was a little bitter by the fake punt. The guy that called the fake was just doing what he is coached to do. It was his call to make and he made it. I really dont thing the kid really thought about score. He was thinking game plan and where the Xs and Os were lined up. He called it vs. buckingham first game of the season and it bit us in the butt. Everyone from the crowd thought it was the coach, but later found out the player on field called it with poor judgement on that particular play. Its crazy that he waited the whole season to call it again. I think it was a good read and he did what he was coached to do.

Then it's all on the coaches to do a better job of making sure their players know the situation and adjust accordingly. It's like when McNabb stopped at thr one instead of scoring at the end of an Eagles game once.

I don't blame the kid in that situation, I blame coaches for not making sure their players know the situation at hand.

"There were three generals from the Lee family who surrendered in Appomattox in 1865, so we can just add a few more generals associated with theno Lee family name to the list. So, maybe it's a "C-" for history but it's an "A+" play on words."- from a history teacher at ACHS.

Hop over to the 1A board & ask the PM fans if anyone made it in under 4 hours.
