LEE/Gate City

Personally, I think the Region C vs Region D are going to be the more entertaining games, considering you have Radford, Dan River, Martinsville, Gate City, Graham and Grayson all fighting for ONE spot!
Absolutely agree. I think if Lee can avoid the 'Waynesboro' type of game they have a good shot to go to Richmond. It won't be easy, but over 32 minutes if they play hard and tough, and Vaughan plays smart, they can get it done.

The team that makes from the C/D side of the bracket will definitely have earned their trip to Richmond. Gate City and Radford are the favorites to advance to the 2A title game, but there are some real good teams to challenge. The one that stands out to me is Martinsville. 12-1 since losing in late December. They don't score big, like 70-80 a game, but they don't give up a lot either. They have been in close games over the last month+ and have got the W. History has shown you don't want to be in a tight game with them in the postseason.

I agree - just hope Lee takes it 'one-game-at-a time'.

All it takes is ONE bad game..........

The top teams from Regions A & B would include Lee, East Rock, Stuarts Draft, Central Woodstock, Greensville County, Goochland, Randolph-Henry and despite having a subpar season, never count out Madison County - all they have to do it get hot, and they have some outstanding players from last year on the team.

I am hoping for two things in reference to Lee. One, like you said, Mickens leads them with the 'one game at a time', and reminds them each game of the Waynesboro loss. Lee did not get after it for 32 minutes in that game.

Two, that Vaughan takes his game up a notch like he did last postseason. He was the main reason Lee won the title. George was the all-state player we expected, but Vaughan was the difference. If he can just play that fine line of aggressive and hard, but stay out of foul trouble, Lee can beat any of the A/B region teams. Vaughan doesn't have to score 30 a game to do that. Just lead Lee with his approach every game. Its contagious.

You're right - he seriously stepped it up last year!

I think Lee's depth might play a key role down the road.....

I agree. Vaughan can get his 20 points and Lee has several players who can add 40 to 50 each game if they come ready to play. I don't see a team in regions A/B who can put up 60-70 points if Lee is ready for 32 minutes of defense too (that doesn't factor in Stuarts Draft, lol, Lee will score 100). Lee has good depth at the guard position and nice size. Not so much height, but Lee's guards are not skin and bones, and senior strong. It all comes down to approach and effort, plus communication.

Only one of those 12 wins came against 2A competition. The lone loss came on the road against a 6A squad while down a starter. I wonder if the Dogs have the firepower to get past the top 3 or 4 teams, but there's no doubt that they'll come into the post-season battle tested.
