I'm just going to open this up as i don't know every team's starters. I can tell you for instance JF loses its backfield (QB & both RB's) and they lose 20+ seniors, but idk how many starters return. If you could look at your team and count the starters that graduate and how many starters return. Don't forget to count 2 way starters as 2 losses for the purposes of figuring out total starters lost. It's an interesting discussion, but conclusions can be murky, considering Salem lost 18 starting positions and came out and won the title last year. Also I'm not trying to step on DP's shoes with his team by team rundown. Just trying to stimulate some discussion. Best I can do for other teams is go to Maxpreps and count Sr's graduating, but that's not as good as knowing the number of starter losses.

I'll start it off with Salem, they lose 11 seniors that were starters, but since Alex Ramsey was a 2 way starter, they actually lose 12 starters.Detailing the starting positions lost is as follows: 3 OL- Wall, Herndon, & Bassford, 4 DL- McCauley, Howell, Hood, & Ramsey, 2 backfield- Ramsey & Clayborne, 2 in the secondary- Ponton and Swaine, and LB- Close. (Since Barnette & Cummings were lost early in the season to injury I didn't add them I just counted the losses from the final starting lineup) In addition they lose 10 more Seniors that provided key support to the team on special teams or as backups.

So if you would do the same for your team or other teams you may follow and know we'll get something started..

GW Danville loses a lot this year. They lose 9 on defense and all of their skill guys except their QB Sam Branch and CB Henry Barley. These loses include S Tim Glass (NC State), CB Donald Smith (Hampton), DE Malek Henderson (NCCU), CB/RB CJ Graves (Winson Salem State), LB Dyante Fuller-McDowell (Bluefield), Salem message board favorite and 2 year starter at LB John Stevens (IMO, probably the best linebacker GW has had in a while; Bluefield), OT Jeremy Stephens (serviceman Army) and Curtis Brooks (Cincinatti)..Thankfully they return their whole offensive line and some pretty good backups. Also helps that their JV team went 10-0 and the sophomores have never ever loss a middle school or JV game before. I was told by one of their senior captains (lineman Jeremy Stephens) from this past year that he expects them to be a little smaller but very strong and fast. Rising junior QB Sam Branch is doing unbelievable things this summer. I've seen him in action and really wouldn't be surprised to see him break some of 2014 4a West Player of the year Hunter Brynes passing records at GW. I won't mention the other young guys for purposes that they 1.) haven't played many varisty snaps 2.) out of respect for DP's team discussion, it's not GW's turn.

I know GW's JV lost to Glass two seasons ago. I don't know if the sophomores you speak of were on the JV team that year but, the JV team did lose to Glass at GW during the 2014-2015 season.

The sophomores were 9th graders this past and played middle school ball that year. The rising juniors lost to Glass that year. GW doesn't usually let 8 graders play JV ball unless they're that good. The starting QB Sam Branch didn't even get to play JV in the 8th grade nor did Hunter Brynes.
