Lets talk about it!

I think Appomattox will still be the team to beat. I think the program is established at championship level and with the freshman QB coming up is gonna be dangerous. Richlands I think will be back, Goochland is always a threat and they were fairly young. I think R.E.LEE will still be good and I think Gate City jump back into it they played a tough schedule and put up pretty good fight. Not because I'm a fan but the Knights will not be a pushover next year. We were talented with what we had but everyone knows the story. We bring back the right coach (Advocate you know who) this team will be totally different. We only lose 5 or 6 senions and we have a good young core of players coming back. Our numbers on varsity and jv should go back up. Championship caliber probably a reach but definitely will not be a pushover for anyone. Also Gretna, Glenvar, Giles and Union. Poquoson I think will be good they are a pretty good size 2A school and should good numbers. My sleepers Amelia, Nottoway, Greensville, King William. Way too early but who knows.

Gate City will most likely still be at the bottom next season.

King William took their lumps this year but carried 19 freshmen and sophomores on the roster. The qb, rb and 3 wrs were all sophomores. Rb/wr Marc Gresham had over 1200 yards rushing and 700 yards receiving. He has a younger brother who will be a freshman next year and is already 6'2 180 lbs and is the real deal at rb and lb. I believe 4 out of the 5 starting linemen return as well. This year will only make them better though in my opinion. The future of KW football looks very bright.

Watch out for East Rockingham to make a strong move next year. Also Buffalo Gap and Luray each had a top notch junior running back this year, so if they can get help at other positions they could be factors. As for Lee, I would think losing Williams will be tough for them, so that next year we may REALLY find out what kind of coach Girolmo is. Stuarts Draft might also bounce back because of having a strong JV team this year.

Ridgeview (if not 3A Abingdon) will beat Union next year for the Mountain 7 District and possibly be a threat to win Region D along with Richlands and Graham. Not sure if we're ready for the entire state yet or not though.

I was just speaking about teams thay made playoffs and ones that could be better than last this year based off what they bring back. I'll look at all 2A rosters before long because the board will die down and I'll be bored. This thread alone shows how fast we miss hs football lol! Countdown to next season.

Ridgeview did make the playoffs. Lost to Grayson County in round 1. :)

I know I just hadn't looked at all the teams roster I left out teams like Marion and Martinsville, Dan River if they go to a spread. Didn't leave Ridgeview out on purpose. I. Just loot at returning players and guess how they'll be. Nothing negative at all man by any means.

Don't worry man... not offended. :)

Pretty sure Marion loses Ford, their stud RB. So, I expect them to not be as good next year.

If DR went spread....DOGWOOD would have been in trouble. Not talking bad about HC, but that dude is long overdue to be replaced. He had the athletes to run spread for years and didnt do it. Stuck to that I form with all that talent???? CRAZY! That is why I love doug smith, he is a run first guy, but he knew he had some great qbs and he came out of the veer to spread to give a balanced attack. DR should have done the same. Its okay to do the I form, but dang it....mix it up a bit.

Appo laid down the recipe to do that. As you see in 2013 we did the split back veer under snap every play due to a RB having to be QB. It hurt us in long run vs Giles because we didnt have a throwing game.

Bro you already know... Im excited for Bucktown if that comes to life (coaching change). He is a coach that the kids would rally behind. We rivals, but i wish Buckingham the best...You know SWVA laid down the blueprint for us. Gotta stick with our Central VA teams until the end....NOPE AND YOU NOT GETTING AXE BACK!.....

On the real...I dont see Appo doing it again next year. we will have a great kid at qb but he a couple years out. I just hope he keeps his head on straight. They (Appo Community) trying to compare him to the next Vic Hall...I think they are losing their mind with this crap at this point. Let the kid play and prove worthy. We have great coaching and this is another era of athletes in appo. its going to take coach smith and company some time to groom them up before we make another strong run.

I tell you what if a head coach with real knowledge of his personnel took over Bluestone that school would jump in real quick. They look like R.E.LEE personnel wise when I saw them. They had a very good QB, big Wrs big RB, big front seven (athelic kids) but ran only 5-6 plays out of the spread. I think they could've ran whatever offense they want to from I-form to a Pass heavy spread. Dont understand.

East Rock.

If Luray did what they did this year, East Rock can do that and more next year. I look at them as a legit Region B contender and will have more confidence in them than I did Luray.

Amelia's QB is very good. They will have a lot of talent coming back next year. They will be tough. Buckingham with the right coach will be back to their winning ways as well. I think Nottoway will lose a lot but their JV team was pretty good this year. My Goochland team loses some big time talent in Ricky Mayfield DE/TE, John King RB/LB, Jasper Carter FB, Cole Nuckols RB/DB and Ethan Kopczynski OL. Having said this, Goochland has a ton of talent coming back. Four starting OL, starting QB, 2 running backs that either started or played a lot on offense. Defense has 7 starters back as well. Varsity has gone 25-2 and JV has gone 18-1 the past 2 years. Definitely not bragging because it is about winning the state title but my "Dawgs" are not going to backslide as long as they continue to hit the weights and do the work in the off season. Over all, I think the James River District will be stronger next year compared to this past season.....

"They" might be a strong word. Appo community..I would say NO.

Appo will take each day one at a time.

I should’ve said “many think”... you are correct, but i get phone calls and messages about the kid. “Many” are saying this kid could be next vic hall. I still remember what they were saying about Dieon and having high hopes on him when he backed up Josh wilson and qb as freshman. Not gonna go into how that panned out...i like the kid and great guy, just think he was in wrong position.

It's important to have a Coach that knows his xs and O's. There are many coaches out there that aren't as sharp with the xs and O's compared to their other coaching peers, but their kids love playing for them. This can be an issue if thinking about making a change. Having kids that love playing for you doesnt automatically equate to the Coach being an X and O guroo . Sometimes, a Coach may be a X and O guroo , but the kids don't like playing for him. I guess it goes both ways. The ultimate coach is one the kids love, and he's one that is as sharp as they come on xs and O's. Appos coach is an example, and so is ED from Poquoson. I have heard the same about Greg Mance at Richland's and Turner at Union. A guy I know personally and love dearly is Coach Parker at Southampton. His kids love him and he's a man's man. A leader in the true sense, but LP has struggled some with the evolvement of the game, and I think he needs to retire. He is still there because he loves his profession and has shaped hundreds of kids in a positive direction over the years.
