Magna Vista at Jefferson Forest

After watching the highlights of the JF PH game looks like JF had issues on the defensive side with just PH's QB being a one man wrecking crew. MV has several key athletes on offense that I think will hurt JF. With that being said, is MV defense up to the task of containing JF offense? I don't think you stop Navy Jones, but contain him. JF defense will have their hands full with Jacquez also, who no-one is really talking about alot, but he is just as fast if not faster than navy jones. A lot of questions to answer about this game. The one thing I do know, is that it will be a playoff atmosphere, because the warrior fans will travel. Should be a packed house, and exciting game.

Out of these two teams! Who can play any defense at all? and how can any team be the the number one team in 3A and not play defense? Just has me amazed. Have no clue who to pick , because I saw Liberty hold JF last year to 28 , just shows if you play defense , you are always in any game. So who is the pick?

Having seen both teams in scrimmages with Salem, I was much more impressed with JF. I know it was just a scrimmage, but JF looked playoff ready and Magna Vista didn't look like they were the defending 3a champs. I'm sure MV will get things ironed out, but I'd give JF the edge based on their early schedule and performances thus far. They are home too which helps, although MV travels very well. Should be a great shootout like last week's between JF and PH.

Am going magna Vista, here's why Jfs defense won't make enough defensive stop it will be alot of points ,and we all know defense wins championships and they give up 30 week one and 35 week two..and should have lost to ph,u don't kick to navy and they got burned. . If trevon is on and qb and backs are play like the defending champion they win by 3tds, there are much bigger up front then jf, like have seen both team play jf is very capable but they will have to play mistake free football and limit the turnovers, down goes Frasier..

JF only gave up 14 Week 1 to WF, not 30. Magna Vista gave up 28 to Dan River and they're no JF. No one has stopped Navy Jones or Cam Miller, I don't think MV will either. JF led the whole way except for a missed extra point. If they had not fumbled 3x they would have probably won by 2+TD. I don't see anyone winning this game by 3 TD, this game should be a close shootout the whole way.

I picked JF to win this game only because no one has stopped them yet, however I think MV is very capable of beating JF and here's why. Magna Vista has some studs on defense and has unreal team speed for a high school team...Keon Taylor, Redd, Brunson, Johnston, and Jaq Hairston. I haven't even mentioned the linebacker Scales and QB McQuire. My question mark with this team is discipline..FORGET they lost 6 receivers who were a huge part of their offense last year. JF is a well disciplined team and you not only have to bring your A Game to beat them but you have to play smart and with discipline to beat them. No trash talking, no antics, none of that. That's why I'm giving JF the advantage. MV, talent wise, could run through their schedule undefeated, but they're biggest weakness for years has been discipline. I remember back in 2010 and 2011 where they beat Salem both years in the playoffs and got high headed and turned around the next week in both years and gave ,a well disciplined, Christiansburg team the game by playing undisciplined football. So if MV goes into Forest focused and plays to their potential, MV 45 JF 42....If not....JF 42 to MV's less than 42.

If MV can stop the run, they can win. JF doesn't like to throw the ball. They throw it just enough to say they did not run ball every play.
I'd like to see JF go to the Spread and air it out.

DanvilleSportsHead, I agree that MV has to play discipline ball not just tonight but every night. And I also agree that this goes for every high school team. Being that MV has regained it's name for having a winning football program week in and week out they are a target so in the heat of games words are exchanged among children and emotions heat up. Unfortunately, in most cases MV receives the penalties for retaliating what originally started from other teams. Being a spectator I can say that there are times I have witnessed MV players initiate some trash talking but overall MV players are well behaved, smart young men. As adults we look at the reactions of high school players on the field and court and from an incident due to high emotions we react and try to label them. However, these are high school kids and yes I personally have my thoughts about certain schools and players because they are habitual in their negative behavior. But if a kid loses their cool every once in a while I have to remember they are kids and they haven't matured enough to know better. It's the negative mistakes that continuously happen that makes me wonder about a kid and their upbringing. So, again MV players are well-behaved, smart, young men who work hard on the field and off the field and they too, can reach their limit, especially defending their title this year. My motto is let the "whiners and losers" talk let your game talk because the game is what determines who wears the ring after December.

GO WARRIORS!!!!

I've seen Navy Jones split wide and catch passes, and run routes coming out of the backfield. They don't throw the ball often but when they do it's usually effective. The Wishbone is obviously a run first scheme, but they can throw the ball very well also. If every offense ran the spread it would be kind of boring. They run an effective offense that can score as many points as any spread team.

Have to agree Hammy. How can teams win without defense? And remember, Navy Jones went out with injury in the 2nd half against Sherando. The Warriors didn't really stop JF until then. This is a shootout, plain and simple. It's mistakes or a critical stop that will decide this game because neither can stop the other.

Teams can win in regular season without a good defense, but good defense and good passing attack wins state championships.
