Martinsville 25 Dan River 21

Martinsville has some good athletes and Coach Orion Martin seemed to have team buying in his coaching philosophy. The Bulldogs aren't a pushover, so I wouldn't just call it an upset. But, Dan River also left a lot of points on the field, had five turnovers (3 INTs, 2 fumbles) and penalties on some promising drives.

DR went up 7-0, but Martinsville scored on their next drive and got a quick Pick-6 to lead 12-6 as those scores were almost back to back. Wildcats scored right before the half to go up 14-12. DR push the lead up to 21-12, but could not get another score that would have all likelihood put the game away. Martinsville took some chances in their passing game and it paid off with TD on 4-&-15 and the game-winning score on a 63 yard pass where the QB scrambled around and found his receiver. DR still got 2 chances to win in the final 3:40, but both drives ending on an interception and the last one ended in Bulldogs territory as the quarterback fumble while trying to avoid a sack.

Bulldogs (2-2) should make the playoffs as they still got to play Bassett, Tunstall, & Patrick Co which they should enter as favorites which are larger classes. Dan River will be at Nelson County next week to start district play.
