Really amazing shot to win the game 45-44 with 1.8 seconds to go.

Halifax lost the game on the line as they went 2-10. Martinsville had only one 3 of the game, and it was the game-winner. One of those “Sit there for a bit to comprehend what just happened” type of game winners. Halifax didn’t get into as much foul trouble as they usually do and the team is already refocused on Pulaski Friday.

If Martinsville plays like they have the past 2 games, I expect them to compete for yet another State Championship.

Love that. The Dogs are the smallest school in the PD by a good bit. It is pretty cool that they just went 3-0 in the PD tourney against the 3 biggest schools.

Did some checking Mayberry, Bassett at 1133, GW 1308 and Halifax 1485. Martinsville is at around 560 now. Definitely a good feat against some long odds.

basketball is the great equalizer; some of the best teams both public and private in Virginia are smaller schools.

I don't even take enrollment numbers into account for privates. The whole game changes when you recruit the players you want versus the school down the road that goes to battle year after year after year with the kids they're given.

Just to rub it in. Martinsville has one of the most underrated players in Virginia. Just got an offer to Livingstone! Congrats Troy!
