After the weekend's action, my poll remains almost exactly as it was last week with only a couple minor changes.

1-7 are the same.

Patrick Henry falls a few spots after their loss.

Altavista drops out of the top 15 after the pounding by # 6 WC. Does A-Town still have the same coach as during the state championship years? If so, they must be going through a major talent void as they are 1-4.

Chilhowie returns to the top 15.

The lack of offensive production on the part of Sussex may stall their playoff run (or before).

Lastly, the East Game of the Week is Colonial Beach at West Point. That should be a good one.

I was looking at the rosters on maxpreps. Can anyone confirm that CB has 53 guys on their team? If so that is incredible for a school that size.
Also, WP has some big dudes up front.

That roster is likely every kid in the program 8-12. Their roster on rschooltoday lists 24 varsity with jersey numbers.

Vista still has same coach. They have played a brutal schedule. Not sure why they would schedule the likes of Staunton River, last years 3A runner up. It doesn't get much easier for them with Gretna, Dan River and then they finish the season against the defending 2A state champ Appo. By far the toughest schedule of any team in 1A. And yes the WP CB game should be a real slobbernocker. Sussex will get perhaps their best offensive threat back in the next few weeks, and that will probably kickstart things on that side of the ball. He hasn't played since early part of last season due to a knee injury. I counted 12 players on the sideline of the game for CB vs CC. So that puts them at 23 or so. Probably dress a few more for home games as do most other programs.

I hope you are correct in terms of Sussex. Not sure if OUR defense can hold up for a complete season as far as holding people to 2 or less touchdowns.

If the total number is around 53 kids in the CB football program, according to my rough calculations, that would mean about 45 percent of all CB boys (8th-12th) are playing football for their community.

That is an amazing number. Reminds me of the Spartans of Greece. Small area but bad a-- fighters.

Giving Riverheads was to much credit ,they are getting better and beat a very good Gap team this past week . They are a work in progress .

Colonial Beach is the second best team in the NND and was the champ in that district last season. CB is the real deal. Watch out West Point!

Not sure how you can say that when they have not played the supposed best team in the neck. And yes we are very aware of how good they are here in the milltown. This is the biggest game we will have played in quite a few years and its our homecoming

Altavista only has like 25 kids on the team and they all play both ways the injury bug has got a few of our players. And i think not 100% sure but i think they dont have a jv team and little league team in our area has really fell off due to price to play and lack of willing players

Tough to put Essex ahead of Sussex when Sussex owns the head to head match up and they have no other common opponents.

Try being a high school team where the school and booster club doesn't buy uniforms or warm-ups. We have to do everything through fundraising.

I saw Wm Campbell play Friday, they might be best 1A team in state. very impressive.

It is interesting how Altavista defeated WC last year by 28 points and this year WC returned the favor and defeated Atavista by 28 points (almost exact scores).

Great for WC that they have improved so.

HR6 or others, you really think WC could hang with Riverheads in Region B? I still would think Riverheads wins that one by 3+ TDs.

WC is not as good as the top 5 imo.

I certainly understand that perspective. If the season was over, I would rank Sussex ahead of Essex based on the head to head.

However, if those two play again, I would expect Essex to win it. Essex has improved much since then, not sure Sussex has improved much. Offense is lacking.

I think Essex is the better team, therefore, the higher ranking.

That's crazy that those kids have to pay. It's basically free to play here and boosters pay for almost everything at GW. Or wealthy fans donate money to the team so they can buy what ever is needed.
