You are welcome to agree or disagree. I am sure that some West Point fans may think differently. That is fine with me.

However, imo, their weak schedule will really hurt them come playoff time.

Lots of big games were played this past weekend. The final stretch has begun...

I doubt West Point fans will be offended. The teams you put ahead of them are mostly West teams and the East teams ahead of them are strong. At the end of the day, you play the schedule in front of you. The only fact is West Point will field 22 players that are going to give everything they have until the clock has all zeros! I think your list is solid!

Yeah, as a WP alum I have no issues with them as long as they're in the top 10. I try to live in reality.

1. Rivershead ( Are we in Salem Yet)
2. The Sussex Central Tigers ( Peaking at the right time)
3. Essex ( Battle Tested)
4. Colonial Beach ( Playoff nightmare for whomever)
5. Galax ( Come East for your test)
6. Narrows
7. William Campbell ( 1 trick pony )
8. Northumberland (1 trick pony)
9. Washington & Lee ( We never heard of defense)
10. West Point ( Just happy to be winning again)

I apologize no disrespect to the west, I just don't have enough info on the west teams , I'm sure the west will be a force to be reckoned with, please enlightened me on the teams out west.

In was just giving you a hard time, your assessment might be right on other than putting 4 teams ahead of Galax. The West is definitely down this year with Galax being the top dog as of now followed by Narrows then a host of others. GW could still be in the mix of things when it's all said and done. Chilhowie, Grundy, PH Gladespring are right there with GW right now and I'm sure I've left some teams out.

Hey I will tell you those teams from Swva will not back down from anyone , they are well coached and community based programs who thrive on tradition. I remember Powell Valley, Lebanon, Honaker, and Bath owning the State at one time. Oh don't let me forget that Clintwood program !

MT FAN 91 who has Galax beat other than Gw? How would Galax do in the east

They beat Radford, Carroll County, Rural Retreat, Fort Chiswell and GW. They lost to a very good 2A team in Glenvar and to 3A Northside. As far as competing in the east is hard to say because I have not seen the teams from the east play but I do think they would be competitive in the east. Because of the way the playoffs are set up this year Galax will not get the opportunity to play the east unless they make it to Salem.

I dare say if Riverheads and Galax were to be fortunate enough to advance to Salem and meet each other for a third straight year, we could have the beginnings of a rivalry on our hands!

No offense to Sussex and Essex as I live close to both and have seen them both over the years. Galax would beat both of them by 10-14 points. Riverheads is the best team in the state of Va Class A followed by Galax. Only my opinions. Galax and Riverheads will play again for the state title. I would put William Campbell at 5th, even with the big loss to Appo, other than this, I agree with UVA's top 5 except I would have William Campbell ahead of Narrows, Northumberland, and Colonial Beach.

Great input! I do agree with you that the odds are very high that the state title game will be Riverheads v Galax.

However, I am not so sure that Galax is that much better than the Region A representative. In fact, the East would most likely pull it out at home.

In the end, not sure if it matters as Riverheads is the heavy favorite.

As for WIlliam Campbell, I did consider leaving them higher.

I know that they are better than last year, but Essex beat them with ease last season in the playoffs by 35 points (and Essex had a down year last season by Essex standards).

Maybe WC is that much better....but they have to play Riverheads away so we will never know if they could hang with the East.

Where do you have it that RH will be at home throughout? That is a big assumption since there are two very good 2A schools still on the schedule and a motivated Page that is primed for pulling off an upset this year. Too many people counting chickens before they are hatched. Still plenty of football to play so let it play out then we will all know who plays who and where.
