Welcome to the board.

They used to be a small country school but with lots of folk like you moving in they are getting to be a big deal.

Welcome to our humble little message boards, R1776.

As the opportunity presents itself for you, fill us in on what high school football is like in NJ. We all like learning about how it works in other states.

Powhatan is in Class 4, they belong to Region B.

This year they are moving to the Dominion District which includes Clover Hill, Cosby, George Wythe, Huguenot, James River, LC Bird, Manchester, Midlothian and Monacan.

Manchester is the Class 6 state champion from 2018.
LC Bird won 3 state titles from 2012-2014

Powhatan won two state titles in 1996 and 2003 and played in three other state title games but were on the losing end.

Legendary coach Jim Woodson stepped down after being on the job since 1985. Mike Henderson who had guided Douglas Freeman to a 53-24 record in 7 seasons is entering his first season as the helm. He is also a resident of Powhatan.

That's a crash course so to speak on Powhatan going into this season. So you relocating is ironic given the Indians will have a new coach, a new district and new schedule this season. Yeah you have missed quite a bit of history but you come in at the birth of a new era for Powhatan football.

I will be putting out a Powhatan preview in the next two weeks so lookout for that on the homepage and you can get a feel for the team this coming season.
