New High School Planned for Stafford County

Stafford County is building the new school between U.S. 17 and Truslow Road to ease overcrowding. County projections indicate that high school enrollment is at 99.3 percent in fiscal year 2023, and will be at 101.2 percent in fiscal year 2024, and at 102.6 percent the following year.

The 290,000-square-foot High School 6 is set to open in August 2026 and will be big enough for up to 2,150 students in grades 9–12 in the Hartwood District.

Opening Date: Slated for August 2026. Phase II of timbering the land is currently underway.
High School 6 (HS#6) is planned to house up to 2,150 students and serve grades 9 through 12. This 290,000+ square foot building will be designed and constructed utilizing the most current Stafford County Public Schools high school education specifications and in accordance with updated Facility Design Standards.
