I was told there are one or two from Virginia, but I don't know who they are or where they're from.

I think he's a more knowledgeable than they are :0 Some of them seem like they have never called a football game before. It's embarrassing to the game.

That's funny. Thanks, but I'm happy with football on Friday nights. It's still fun. Start working at the higher levels and it's a JOB. Not to say I don't take it seriously; I take high school football VERY seriously, but it's still fun without heavy scrutiny. Plus, if there is a player on the high school field who doesn't respect the officials, he's obvious and can be handled. Those guys have an entire field of guys who don't respect them and there's nothing they can do about it. And the whole country is watching.

Not a situation I'd ever want to be in.

Most of these guys apparently are from D3 or NAIA college levels, prob very good officials in their own right.. but overmatched at that level.

I see college officials at Liberty University games that are over matched. I can see where the NFL refs are also. I do know they cost the Redskins a game agaisnt the Rams a couple weeks ago.

It finally hit a breaking point IMO tonight on Monday Night Football, what a monumental breakdown of integrity of the game. Packers got screwed, not the officials fault they just are not able to call games at that level. The NFL is to blame, I will never be critical of high school refs again I've never seen them make such a horrible call as those refs made tonight.

What? Did something happen in the game tonight?

(kidding)

I agree with every word. But I doubt you'll go the rest of your life without being critical of h.s. refs. Just a hunch.

Seahawks had a hailmary pass on the last play. Packers player clearly intercepted the ball, Seahawks player had a hand on it and the refs gave the Seahawks a touchdown. Horrible call. This makes two nights in a row these replacement refs have made wrong decision at the end of the game. I just heard on Mike & MIke that three of the guys in Mondays replacement crew were Pac-12 officals that had been let go because of not being good enough for college ball.

Re: It gets worse

I'm not sure all the reports about the backgrounds are all accurate. The guy who supposedly was fired from the PAC12 actually called a Sugar Bowl a couple of years ago. Also, I know a guy who calls the Lingerie League. That league doesn't hire or fire officials, they are arena league guys who are given the opportunity to call that for a little extra cash and a few laughs. The NFL itself works closely with the arena leagues as a farm system for officials since NFL Europe folded.

Obviously, most guys in arena ball have aspiriations of making the NFL as a regular, permanent official so the only reason a guy would be a replacement is if he knew there was no chance of making it, so many people have interpreted that as being fired because being a replacement is pretty much career suicide.

Repl refs at VT-Clemson game Saturday.

A defender has hold of QB's ankle and they call it a sack as he completes a pass.
