Rappahannock (4-1) at Colonial Beach (4-1) - Both teams have been ranked in Va Preps Top 10 at some point this season. Huge game for both. CB coming off big win v West Point who had just knocked off the Raiders. Thoughts? CB would be favored but can Rapp pull off the upset?

Lancaster (1-3) at Washington and Lee (2-2) - Can an improved Lancaster pull the upset in Montross? I would not think so as the Eagles have their Fall Festival party going on and should be looking to go above 500. W&L would be favored.

This week's Rappahannock Times has lots of sports action - Essex, Rapp, and Northumberland articles - Essex at NHS preview, pics of NHS stars Palmer and Mason - and of ones of the Essex stars, of course - plus Golf and Volleyball action.

Game of the Week - Essex (3-2) at Northumberland (3-0) in the marquee matchup this week. Essex looks to continue its supreme dominance of the Neck while the Indians look to shock Essex and many across the state with a strong performance.

A great crowd is expected at Northumberland as the Indian faithful are feeling confident that NHS finally has a good shot to upset the mighty powerhouse Trojans of Essex.

History gives Essex the massive advantage as Essex is 21-1 against the Indians over the last couple decades. The last time the Indians upset Essex was back when current NHS head coach Lewis was leading the green warriors as a player.

Essex has played the tougher competition this year with Franklin, 2A KW and 3A Thomas Jeffeson. However, Northumberland pounded last year's private school champs Christchurch, 47-9, in a good tune up for NND play.

Essex D strategy will be to contain NHS star Palmer and to use their big size to get to and disrupt NHS QB Mason. On O, Essex will also use the big man Dameron in an attempt to pound the line. Dameron averages almost 6 yards a carry and over a TD a game. Can a much improved Indian D slow the big boy down?

NHS has the heart and the talent to win - can they do it? It should be a good one and an exciting atmosphere in Northumberland Nation!

CB's D is better than Rapp's D, CB by 12. I think L @ WL will be close, but I'm going with W&L by 8.

I'm predicting Northumberland finally gets their W.

Congrats to Colonial Beach on returning to the Va Preps Top Ten!

I have no problems with the top ten except I would definitely drop William Campbell out who is currently #9 and replace with Essex somewhere.

If Galax at 3-2 can be in the top 3 then Essex (3-2) should be in there somewhere.

Also, I am not sure if Narrows is top ten material (not to mention top 4) but if westerners think so - I would consider it. If anything, maybe Narrows at 9 or 10 or top 12.

Maybe leave West Point in the top 10 at 10 with Rapp close.
