1. Essex (12-2) State semis appearance for the dTrojans last year coming off a great season in coach Jones return back. This year KJ Dameron is returning with a state championship in mind. Essex lost a lot of talent with their all state receiver gone T.Hundley and also their explosive playmaker T. Johnson. Will Essex have their shoes filled ? 2018 Record prediction (7-3)

2. Northumberland (8-4) Coming off it’s best season in over 20 years the Indians look to continue its success this year. 3rd year at starting QB D.Palmer looks to have another dynamic year and make more history for the Indians this year. Biggest question is can they get pass Colonial Beach and Essex ?2018 Record Prediction (7-3)

3. W&L (8-4) W&L is coming off a great season as well who was undefeated halfway through the season last year. With their QB Bell gone who will run the offense ? W&L has some big shoes to fill but with their top WR returning and RB that helps. But can they compete with the other district juggernauts ? 2018 Record Prediction (4-6)

4.Colonial Beach (6-5) Coming off a surprising good season, Colonial beach looks to sustained some momentum. With the lost of their best player (A.Lewis ) can they fill his shoes ? we are all smart enough to not count them out

5. Rappahannock (3-7) With a young team last year Rappahannock looks to be experienced and competitive this year. I think will be a sleeper this year. 2018 Record Prediction (5-5)

6. Lancaster (1-9) We will see you in December when basketball starts .

Northumberland will be though on skills and defense. Northumberland's one struggle this year will be the oline. They are only retuning the center and a tackle. I think Essex will run through the nnd. Colonial Beach is always a toss up because of the system. Those three will be at the top. Can it be August yet?

Just curious....Who are the 3 teams you think will beat Essex during the regular season?

I hate to say it but Looking at essex's schedule I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't go 10-0, 9-1 at the worst. I know anything can happen and I'd love if my Indians could pull an upset. But let's be honest they are returning a lot of good talent they will be in Salem.

Wouldn't be shocked to see both Essex and RH at 10-0 or 9-1. It's going to be a points battle again to see who earns the right to host that crucial semi-final game.Time will tell.

Yeah Essex should go undefeated in regular season, at worst 9-1. I think this year it’s a toss up for 2 thru 5 in NND.
 
Really don’t know to much about Essex other from what I saw from them last year. I thought giving them a 7-3 Record was safe if you think about who they lost but I guess not lol

Rapp could have easily been 7-3 last year being that they held leads in the 4th qtr vs W&L(2x), West Point, & Middlesex before losing the game in the end. Not sure what other teams lost or bring back but Rapp should return 90% of their starters. Also to mention their QB will return who will be 1yr better as he was the 2nd best QB in the district as a freshman imo. Essex should be #1 and 2-5 should be a battle with CB the slight fav for 2 right now.
 
Yeah Essex lost their best playmaker in #4 and a good receiver in #1 but they have size that can’t be matched in the NNK on o-line and d-line, at least from what I’ve seen from other teams. Not to mention they have the QB coming back, which I think it’ll be his breakout year. And have the quickest big man RB in #24 lol. If they don’t make it to Salem and win, I’d be surprised

I agree with you that IF they get to Salem they would probably dominate the team from the west based on size and speed. What they need to work on is eliminating unnecessary penalties in crucial situations. They should have won that semi game against RH last year but too many mental mistakes did them in. Eliminate those this year and you have a great shot.

If Essex doesn't go undefeated and get to Salem it's a bust of a season ! Nothing is stopping them in East but ( 4??) Lol

Nothing wrong with your 7-3 prediction. I was just wondering who you think could get those 3 wins. Essex's D should still be solid again this year. If the rumors are true, K.J. (#24 RB) will get a lot of playing time on that D line along with his RB duties. The rising junior QB Ashlock should be much improved from last year. He will have a nice group of WRs to work with as well as a couple of speedy RBs to help take the pressure off of K.J. One Guy I’m looking to have a breakout year at WR is Tamaje’ Jones. He started last years as the QB but got hurt in the 1st game against Sussex and then sophomore Ashlock to over in the 2nd game for the rest of the season. Jones got back on the field later in the year as a WR. The fellas have been working hard this off season. A good number of them have been going to camps and playing in some 7 on 7 events as well. Joining the returning players is an Undefeated (I believe) jv team from last year.

Anything can happen to stop Essex from getting to Salem. Injuries, illness, bad games and how about a team that is just better. Essex certainly didn’t help themselves in last years semi with a tightly called game that caused metal breakdowns. It also didn’t help that those breakdowns happened in a game that we played a very solid Riverheads team. By the way, that same Riverheads team will be returning a lot of players this year from what I recall. I believe they will still be in the East. So we can’t say Essex is a sure bet to make it to Salem. Essex’s passing game was not that sharp last year. I’m looking for that to be at least on the level of our 2015 team level when Nelson was QB.

Agree with all of the above also. Many unknowns could happen. Without some major issues to either team, I would expect a rematch this year. RH does have a bunch of seniors this year. Last year was getting prepared for this year but they surprised themselves I think and won it all.

4?? has had some set backs . A lot of the players from last year have injuries to deal with ! Most have developed nuckleitis ! The weight of all those State Rings is a real problem . Dr. says by putting Rings on the other hand will fix everything . The road to Salem goes thru Greenville ! lol

There a lot of mess going on in Greensville lol, the swva blog has a very troubling article about the manipulation that is occurring in Greenville! ( There is no honor amongst theives)
