It's very rare to see a freshman get POY in any sport, but it's definitely well deserved. The kid is a heck of a player and it's obvious that he spends a lot of time working on his game, specifically his shooting

When I tell you the whole team lives in the gym. Believe me!🤣 They work so hard on their games and they have an awesome support system behind them with the coaching staff. That game last Friday was epic!!! The community was great and the boys felt it! Troy is on a different level. His IQ of the game is sooooo high as a freshman. Only way is up from here!!

Just curious because I'm more of a football guy myself and coach too. But how come the kids at Lancaster aren't into football that much. There's athletes there obviously, but I guess not many are coming out. I remember the days of the Conaway brothers, Montel Mitchell and more and Lancaster was a fun team to watch.

Honestly I don’t have a clue. It’s like night and day with Football vs. Basketball. Lancaster’s schools isn’t exactly what we call “up to date”. I think they just got a decent weight room within the past 5 years. They don’t have a football program for kids in the summer here like they do in basketball. Kids usually travel to neighboring counties and play with their youth teams (Richmond & Essex Co.) I can tell you that our Basketball coach Mr. Pinn and his assistants are trying to change that. He is investing in the children, not just the sport of basketball. Stay tuned tho. I hear some big things are coming for the football program soon. Might not be next year but they have addressed it and they are trying to get something going here in Lancaster for the football program.

That's great to hear. I know King and Queen is the same way in regards to a youth program. They have to go to KW, WP or Essex for youth football. Some even to Caroline. They've been able to turn the program around because of a stellar junior class, but they also have some solid freshman class as well. They've also had some quality girls teams this year in volleyball and basketball. The girls basketball team won a regional playoff game for the first time since the 90s and only lost to eventual regional champ West Point by 4. They have a great nucleus returning next year and a great coach who believes in them and next year they could be hoisting the first regional championship in many, many years.
