Now Norfolk snd Suffolk schools cancel Winter sports

The thing to do is hold out to the last possible second while all these schools are cancelling their seasons... and then at the eleven hour, 59 second mark announce you're playing. Voila.. instant state title.

But hey, at least the flu has been cured.

What school is gonna be the one to say enough is enough and get going with sports, 100% I mean this is getting crazy, are they going to cancel seasons when the flu comes back???

Those charts of the different regions with the red-outs are very illuminating. Region A almost completely wiped out in some classes, while Region B only missing one team at Class 3.

VA is full of cowering pussies that are running the schools.

40+ states found a way to get a football season in while VA and it’s band of liberal tards believed they knew more. They failed- just like the schools keep failing the kids and their parents.

Lol because this whole thing goes much deeper than most folks realize.

I say lets just scrap the football season and start from scratch next year. Let the kids continue to school from home. What a crock.

But hey... we apparently cured the flu.. so there is that...………………………………...

The most odd thing is a private school here in Newport News called Hampton Roads Academy/ HRA and very well respected and known never closed down and went virtually. It stayed this entire time with in person classes and had no major problems, so what’s with the Public schools inability to do the same? Granted most school boards are filled with less than skilled people who are always scared to take any unique action.

Do you not elect your school boards down there? I know many public school systems the problems lie in busing. They could do more in person days if they gave up the equity component and made parents responsible for transportation.

My guess is most people never bothered to vote on school board members in the past. Now that everyone sees how inept, and radically socialist, many of these members are that will change.

Like I say, to those who see politics as a religion, these types have voted religiously for years. Now the common man will get involved and fix this.

Well, if you have elected school boards. And they don't listen. And you don't vote them out. Sounds like the problem is you.

Like most elections , most people are clueless on the facts and simply vote the party line.

Most parents I know have completely lost respect respect for teachers and the school districts as a whole.

Where I live the schools have managed to drive a huge wedge between parents and the schools.

Teachers have proven they are not essential but the people at Giants and Target are.

These turds better not ask for a raise either.

When the book is written on COVID it will be the teachers and school admins who will be at the top of the “failed the community” list.

Keep in mind the ideology being driven into these teachers heads when they're in college.. And if there does happen to be one who on that rare occasion doesn't toe that line they'll be out on their butts looking for another job.

First off, school board is a non-partisan election, there is literally no way to vote a party line as no mention of party affiliation is on the ballot.

Second, blaming teachers in the previous post is just insane. Teachers have zero decision-making input in any of this. You guys should really stick to talking football, because you don't know jack about elections or teaching.

Oh hey, I know teachers have no decision making input. Which is why I say if they don't toe the line for the powers that be they're out of a job.

Scared people believing the BS they are handed. Look at the avg number of deaths per year in the USA. No spikes, no jumps in that number in 2020. Just a bunch of BS. Yes, this is a bad virus. But it affects people differently and the politicized OVERREACTION by the government is what is really killing us. More people DIE of other causes than the wuhan flu. I mean no disrespect to ANYONE affected by this, but it is not a virus worth the crap that we've had to put up with for the past 10 months.

We’re all definitely tired of this situation, not just students and their families.

I don’t get into the political bs but I work in a school, a very large school.. If you heard what a good number of teachers were saying about returning even with no students in their class, you’d be disappointed. I get that teachers have families but what about the clerks at the stores we shop at? Police officer, EMT, or fireman? Going to Texas Roadhouse this weekend to enjoy dinner? How about the doctors, nurses and support staff at the hospital? Idk who knows who I am so I won’t go as far as I want.. I will say that there are a lot of entitled people in this world and it’s sickening. I get that there are people that are at more risk than others, but at the same time, you signed that contract and you’re paid pretty damn good compared to a very good number of these essential workers on the front lines (I could use a raise but hell we are off during the summer 😁).

Did you see some of the responses from teachers in Loudoun? That got publicized because of some of the stuff being said.

Hope all is well man.

What’s going on brother. Hope all is well. I didn’t. I’d like to see. I get sick seeing this discouraging stuff from the “leaders” of our students. The kids are way more mature of a lot of our adults.

Also, don't blame the rest of the teachers in the state for what Fairfax and Loudoun teachers say. They don't feel like they are the same as the rest of us, and they are right. Just not how they think. And yes, I signed my contract. And I am teaching every in-person day my system will allow. And I still come into announce the games, which I am not under contract to do. But I also take the virus seriously, despite how much I wish it would go away.

The voter turnout for school boards is very low. Here in this area it is 7 members. Two are from Williamsburg city and are appointed by the city council and not elected. It is therefore a political appointment in effect. The 5 from James City county are elected by election district and is political in nature even if no party affiliation is specifically identified.

Kuddos to you brother. Same here. Been around 60+ students since September and haven’t caught anything. It’s all about asking the good Lord for protection and actually taking this thing seriously. Getting my vaccination next week. Starting to see a little light at the end of the tunnel.

Yea I find it amusing that he claims that partisan politics don't play a part in these school board elections.

Then again he has also basically stated that since parents aren't forcing their kids to wear masks at home it is better for them to be at school where they will be forced to wear a mask 8 hours a day.

All for a virus with a 99% recovery rate. No thanks. I'd rather see them just learn from home. It's a skill that kids need to learn anyway since jobs are headed in the remote working direction.

I never said anything about masks at homes. I said they could gather in large groups with their friends with no supervision or social distancing. How you turn that into wearing masks at home shows you have major reading comprehension problems. I have really not bothered to argue you when you post blatantly false things on here, because obviously there is no point discussing with people who are convinced they know everything about everybody. But I will correct you when you misquote me. And again, if School Board in your area is partisan politics, it is because you(plural) have made it so.

How is your dad doing?
Dad is doing well! Actually moved and is living in your neck of the woods. Hope you and Navy are well. Wish GW and Dinwiddie got to play this year. Enjoyed watching your guys play last year. Dinwiddie is my favorite this Spring to win it all.
