Go to the VHSL site and look at the weekly breakdown of points. It has the schedule for how points are awarded.
But a summary is that you get 16 pts for a win over a 1A team, plus 2 rider points for every win they have. You get 4 pts for a loss to a 1A team, plus 1 point for every win they have.
You get 18pts for a win over a 2A team, plus 2 points for every win they have. You would get 6 pts for a loss to a 2A team, plus 1 point for every win they have.
For a win against a 3A team you receive 20 pts, plus the 2 pts for each of their wins. You would get 8 points for a loss to them and 1 pt for each of their wins.
And this model continues with 2 additional points per classification and the rider points being awarded as 2 for each win of a defeated opponent and 1 point for each win of a team that defeated your team. It's really quite simple, lol. Honestly I don't ever get it right when I do it myself but I keep missing rider points for previous games. The weekly breakdown is the easiest way to see where the points come from and how the calculation is done.

I don't know exactly how the points are done, would someone post the points system.

Each team gets points for wins/losses based on your opponents classification
Win vs 1A-16, 2A-18, 3A-20, 4A-22, 5A-24, 6A-26
Lose vs 1A-4, 2A-6, 3A-8, 4A-10, 5A-12, 6A-14

Each team gets points for number of VHSL recognized wins by your opponent
If you lose, you get 1 point for each number of wins they have
If you win, you get 2 points for each number of wins they have

Teams also get bonus points for playing lower classifications, but since this is 1A, it doesnt apply to us.

Then, you just divide by the number of games played.

Example : Essex(2-4)
Loss vs 2A-Goochland(6-0) 6+6=12
Loss vs 4A-King George(5-1) 10+5=15
Win vs 2A-King William(3-3) 18+6=24
Loss vs 5A-Deep Run(3-3) 12+3=15
Loss vs 3A-James Monroe(5-1) 8+5=13
Win vs 1A-Northumberland(5-1) 16+10=26

12+15+24+15+13+26=105 points
105 points divided by 6 games played = 17.50000

Hope this helps!

I've been trying to understand it with Graham's (2A) remaining schedule.

Right now they have a total of 131 points. They have 4 games left against all 1A teams. They get credit for 2A points though since they are all in district, correct?

So, let's say hypothetically Graham wins out against Galax, Bland, Narrows, & Fort Chiswell. IF all of those teams beat Grayson county too then that should end up with around 26 wins total between the 4. Hypothetically I'm guessing:
Bland 5-5 + Galax 8-2 + Fort Chiswell 7-3 + Narrows 6-4.

So in that scenario you would take [26 wins x 2] 52 + 72 [4 teams x 18] to get a total of 124. add that to the current total points of 131 [131+124] =

^^^^^^
124+131 = 255
255 / 10 = 25.5 total points on the season.

Did I do that right?

Also I think I just realized it doesn't really matter if they beat or lose to Grayson county I don't guess because since they're all in the same district the points are going to be the same no matter what - correct?

^ but I didn't figure on rider points for teams already played. I'm clueless

Yes, IF Graham wins out it looks like you have the right numbers. Just have to add the remaining rider points from the teams that they already beat.

This is supposed to be Official, but if I figured Hurley's points correct, it is 22.33333, not much difference, but a little.

1A Holston(0-6) 16+0=16
1A Eastside(2-5) 16+4=20
2A Shelby Valley(3-4) 18+6=24
1A Castlewood(5-2) 16+10=26
1A Montcalm(1-6) 16+2=18
2A Grundy(5-1) 18+10=28

16+20+24+26+18+28=132
132 divided by 6 games = 22.00000

Your numbers for Hurley may be right. Looks like Grundy's win over 2A River View, WV in week 2 is not included in the VHSL numbers for some reason.

Grundy is 6-1, I guess that is the difference.

I don't like this point system, but it's quite simple to calculate. Half of the points you get is predetermined before the season starts. Some teams start with 40, others with more. Add 12 times number of wins and then add riders (2 per beaten opponent's wins, 1 per opponent's wins to whom the team has lost)
