Officials win in Danville?

Tonight's game in Danville at Averett University between GW and Patrick County was postponed. The makeup date is TBD.

An auto accident about a mile from the stadium and about 30 minutes prior to kickoff caused a power outage. The game was delayed. At approximately 7:40 the decision to postpone was made. Literally within minutes of the announcement the lights came back on. Neither GW or PC had left the field and the few fans that had headed for the exits immediately returned to their seats. Everyone was ready for football except one group, the officials. The game ended up being postponed because they would not return. At least 4 officials were still in the parking lot when the lights returned. IMO, the VHSL should suspend this crew indefinitely. They cost a lot of people time and money tonight.

I'll say this. The World Record for fastest land mammal is a tie between the Cheetah, and those officials the millisecond the game was called.

That’s a shame. No regard for the people who bought tickets and especially the Patrick County fans who traveled (some over the mountain) some 65+ miles away to get to Danville. Hopefully the refs are reported to the right people and are dealt with accordingly.

It’s an unfortunate situation to have happen, but I will say that your comment made me laugh out loud.

GW had a no contest in week 4 and a postponement in week 5 after starting against 3 excellent opponents. I hope their luck improves soon.
