This is one of your specialties. We now have five HC vacancies in the Richmond area. How many more do you anticipate? Do you see any of the openings as a golden opportunity?

BTW, has Charlottesville named a coach yet?

So we know at this time there will be 6 new coaches in the Richmond Region in the Fall...

Huguenot got their man in Charles Scott...

Clover Hill
Henrico
JR Tucker
Midlothian
Mills Godwin

All currently open.

On average since 1970 we 5 turnovers in coaching a season but since 2013 it has gone up to 6 so this is on par for what we usually see. 2021 was a bit of anomaly as there were only 3 changes which was the lowest since 2011 when there were zero changes.

I don't foresee any new openings unless someone were to leave their current position to take one of these. Example being most recently when PJ Adams left TJ for Mills Godwin.

Consider me ignorant of the Richmond region and educate me as to how many schools make up this area because five new coaches a year for over fifty years seems incredible.

It depends on how restrictive you want to be in describing the Richmond area. I would say it’s somewhere between 35 and 45 depending on your definition.
Five coaching changes ain’t bad. Most years it’s more.

So the area I cover for VirginiaPreps is basically 34 schools... the four districts that once made up the Central Region... Capital, Central, Colonial & Dominion Districts.

Some other media outlets stretch their tentacles further with Louisa, King William, King & Queen, Goochland, private schools, etc...

John Marshall coach has just resigned
he has to move out of the area to be with his future bride

The new coach sure has his work ahead of him. JM is coming off of a three win season, but those wins were not exactly marquee. Armstrong, Charles City, and Middlesex. But my goodness, they had no defense at all. Take away the 66 they hung on Armstrong and they were “out scored” 330 to 56.
They may be a basketball powerhouse, but they sure need to do something about their football program.

Richmond should dominate football like they do basketball in Class 2. Hard to find lineman and consistent coaches at JM. Tee Jay has done a great job of consistently competing in the Colonial, even when Deep Run had Bo Kite.

school system did not help; they lost more kids to TJ which is why the Vikes are moving up to C3.
