It's crazy to think PM is coming down to their last few athletic contests vs. Covington. Any idea if the Pioneer will be adding any schools in the coming year?Tuesday @ Covington
I could see PM fitting in with the district Riverheads is in. Football would be tough, but they need that step up anyway IMO from playing Craig, Bath and East Mont if they ever wish to get over the hump. Basketball they'd fit right in.I hope they will, but I can’t see it happening, I wouldn’t be surprised if it disbanded and the remaining schools being absorbed by other districts. Just don’t know.
EXACTLY!!!! And the Pioneer is so spread out, Highland has 3 hour ride to Narrows and vise versa. PM would be better served to go to same district as RiverheadsI could see PM fitting in with the district Riverheads is in. Bath on the other hand... it's crazy to see how far they've fallen across all sports. And considering they're going to be as isolated as PM is from the other schools that will be left in the Pioneer they'd be a prime candidate to be moved to whichever district PM ends up in. That would be rough. I'm blown away by how much their enrollment has fallen in recent years.
Hasnt Highland dropped playing varsity opponents in the Pioneer? They'd be better off just playing as an independent in the VISAA like Chincoteague does and schedule the small Christian schools in the area along with VSDB and the handful of small public schools in WV. Even then I'm sure they'd still struggle.EXACTLY!!!! And the Pioneer is so spread out, Highland has 3 hour ride to Narrows and vise versa. Bath is SOL.
I wasnt sure if Highland still even played the Pioneer teams. Thanks for clarifying. They have varsity boys/girls basketball
It'll be interesting to see if the Pioneer trudges on with six schools, minus 1 for football. It might make sense with PM and Riverheads seeing the distance with them, but I don't see it with the other District teams (not just distance wise). And Bath makes ZERO sense for ANY of them. Its easy looking at Riverheads and their success throughout all sports and seeing a fit between another 1a school that is successful in multiple sports, but I don't see Fort Defiance, Staunton, Waynesboro liking that, and certainly not Bath County.
I think any of this works PM pretty good football wise, but not all these sports that already lose money.
