Game Recap Patto Homers and Gets the Shutout

Western Branch will try for their 2nd State championship in the past four years after advancing to the VHSL 6A State title game with a 3-0 shutout win over Oakton. Senior Jay Patto went the full seven innings pitching a shutout while allowing only three hits.

Oakton loaded the bases in the 1st inning but Patto struckout C Benson for the 3rd out. The Cougars put the 1st two runners on in the 5th inning but Patto got three straight flyouts to end the threat.

The game was scoreless until the Bruins plated two runs in the 5th inning. Conner Butler singled to the outfield scoring two runs to give Western Branch a 2-0 lead.

Patto also helped his cause by drilling a solo homerun in the top of the seventh inning.
Oakton pitcher Owen Lamon took the loss allowing three runs and six hits.
