Petersburg vs. James Monroe

Last year's matchup was a shootout, but I think it'll be a blowout in JM's favor this year. They have an improved defense (although their DBs struggled against Dinwiddie) and offense this year, and Petersburg is still an average team.

That's about right.

Having seen them, and having some insight into Petersburg's program, I say 55-20 JM.

Ditto. Have to admit Petersburg has surprised me thus far. They lost most of their playmakers from last year. The Coach is doing a great job. It's not easy with the lack of depth Petersburg has. Both teams are about the same size physically. JM has a much better offense and the two teams defenses are equal in talent. JM should handle Petersburg rather easily, but stranger things have happened.

It looks like we were all correct, JM 51-6 final.

Petersburg will make the playoffs, I'm confident. And depending on their seeding, could very well win a game or two. But, I'm telling you guys, James Monroe is for real. Tremendous speed, tough rugged kids on both lines, and with Serbay and his coaches putting together the game plans, the sky is the limit.

They chewed up and spit out a fairly good Crimson Wave team like they were nothing. I put them at the same level as last year's Magna Vista team.

I kinda find it hard to put a JM team that really struggled to beat York in the last few minutes of the game 2 weeks ago to be at the same level of last year's MV team. We played Petersburg last year in the playoffs and they really graduated all their top players so the result last night was expected.

Oh I already knew that from their Charlottesville scrimmage, ha.

I'll have to disagree here. Not at the level of last year's MV squad. But can't deny, they just win. Even against the Generals, those little boogers from the 850 kid school just wouldn't go away. Don't doubt for a second that Serbay is the reason.

Need we remind you that JM owns Lafayette and has done so for many, many years. I agree, JM is not last year's MV. But you're not in Kansas anymore. You'll still have to play the LT's and Dinwiddies to get through. Different levels of team. Not the old SouthSide cream puffs the Rams are used to. Another reason JM owns them.

they didn't struggle against York ! the game was more lopsided than the score. JM moved the ball on them and left 21 points in the red zone by shooting theirself in the foot.

First- we have played JM in the last 15 years 3 times and yes lost all 3 with one going to OT. Played cream puffs?? In the past we played Powhatan when they excellent and also Courtland and chancellor in the old region 1 playoffs and win several times. You forget Lafsyette was In 4a until the last few years in 3a . You just seem to have a grudge against Lafayette all the time and your comments show it. Why???

All my time and comments show it? You don't read the boards much, do you? Plus, any school that yields my favorite player of all time, Lawrence Taylor, is going to get my support when applicable. Lafayette is a solid program. They always perform well but it happens every year that perspective is lost by the Ram faithful. They are strong. They are good. They are well Coached. A top ten team for what they do during the regular season that will get skunked at playoff time. Now, especially at the 4A level. How can that be" say the Ram faithful? Perspective say's I. Sorry for the Treasure Island reference.

You'll get a good seed and win a few games. That's an excellent season. Be happy. I would be.

Skunked- that is not respectful! Lafayette has been to the final 3 times and won once since 2000 and 90% of the time in the playoffs and won more than a few games. Not the most successful program but pretty darn good. Been in 4a all but the last 3 years. Fought the battlefield pretty good over the years. Lose to Lt or Dinwiddie- maybe and should they so do all lot of other good teams, but skunked??? I read on here not as often in the last and fewer times each week with posts like yours.... Why bother reading them really. One reason I have not posted any Lafayette scores or recap in the first 3 games this year.

Ps- definition on skunked: defeat overwhelming in a game or contest usually by preventing the other team from scoring. (Google).

Skunked it is. My apologies in advance if that is not so. I'll be here. I've read the summaries and recaps of the games they've played. Great play. Heard it before with Lafayette. None yields perspective. It's like WWII. Is Germany against Poland the same as Germany against the USA?

You won't play a single team with a .500 record in the regular season but Poquoson. All below average teams. Frankly, they may not play another above .500 team till the 3rd game of the playoffs. This isn't saying anything bad about the Rams. Anyone would be happy with that record. But when they actually have to play with the big kids, it could be ugly because nothing has prepared them for that kind of game.

And skunked is a term from a game over 200 years old called Yuker (pronounced you-ker). It does not mean mean held to nothing but it does imply emphatic defeat. If the score is 42 - 14 in Football, you got skunked. In Yuker, you got beat by more than 100 points.

But who would deny the Wehrmacht was an army unit with great skill and ability? In any event the 10 team BRD by simple arithmetic will have several .500 or over teams - happens every year as they all play each other. Some dogs in there like Jamestown (like Caroline). But even the big dogs are vulnerable. Dinwiddie scores very well but has given up points on defense and even LT per the reports I read had penalty and other issues with a smaller NC team- a somewhat tough outing.
