pheobus/ Norcom

Idk...Norcom got a celebration penalty after their TD that pushed the xpt back 15 yds,and it was blocked. Phoebus scores on 4th & 10. Both teams missed fgs in the previous ots.
Heritage (LYH)? EDIT: Never mind, i see Heritage has LB. So who does Phoebus play?

What defense do Phoebus/Norcom play. They both were able to limit Lake Taylor's scoring machine this year. What's their secret?

I believe they both play a 4-4 defense. Norcom simply had the athletes to match up well with LT. Norcom could afford to take risks on defense because their secondary and LB's are elite. Phoebus which also has some pretty good athletes as well made things a little difficult because they simply rose up to the the level of competition as they did with Norcom on this past Saturday. Both Norcom and Phoebus are very familiar with Lake Taylor. I will admit, that I had my doubts about Phoebus' physical and more so mental toughness earlier this year but boy did they prove me wrong on Saturday. I am not going to boast or make any outlandish predictions because I truly feel that when teams make it this far in the season, they're there for a reason. I will say that if they don't get too high after winning such an emotional game against Norcom (whom was brimming with confidence coming in after they knocked off Hopewell), I don't see beating Phoebus being an easy task. If Culpeper pulls it off, I won't be disappointed in the least because Phoebus showed me something Saturday that I've never seen during Coach Jeremy Blunt's tenure and that's that "Bill Dee" coached grit and toughness and I couldn't ask for more.

Still waiting on that Phoebus team I watched during the regular season on offense to show up in these playoffs...honestly wasn't thrilled with the first two rounds. Felt like Phoebus played flat on offense and should've won by 40+ but hey they're advancing. The Norcom game gave me hope because the way they were playing they showed heart and determination.

And about that LT game...Phoebus got bs'd. They called a PI penalty like it was the NFL and made it a spot foul on that final drive for LT. Had that been called correctly Phoebus would be unbeaten, but it is what it is.

And here we go.... Smh. You're not going to see the regular season Phoebus anymore because these are the playoffs. Teams are much better than the teams Phoebus has played in a pathetic Peninsula District this year. So you won't see Phoebus being as dominant. You really need to stop having such high expectations with these Phoebus kids because while they are not on the same talent level of the Bill Dee days, they are good hardworking kids that are giving Coach Jeremy Blunt everything they have. So no, they aren't as dominant but they still deserve the respect and TRUE support that they worked hard for. Norcom was a fantastic team and better than any team in the PD. On better field conditions, I'm not so sure we win that game. If you are looking for a 40+ win every week than you may as well not waste your money. Just being realistic. The LT game is over. There were some questionable calls that entire game. That play you're talking about with the PI. I totally agree, it was a ridiculous spot foul call. Ok, you move on. It didn't hurt us at all because we still ended up with a top seed and home field throughout. So, c'mon Man, fall back and just support the team, if not, then maybe you should sit on Culpeper's side on Saturday. It's easier that way.

Typical Phoebus fan these days satisfied with the BS going on there. York and New Kent are a 6-7 place team in the pathetic PD this year and that's being realistic. The playcalling has been suspect as hell in the playoffs. It has literally been coaching why Phoebus hasn't won since 2011. No way in hell Sexton would have lost to any of these teams in 3A we've lost to the last 3 years and even further back to that embarrassing 35-0 L the last year in 4A. I support the kids as these are the kids I coached growing up so I know what they are capable of...the team is loaded with young and very good athletes.

Not so sure about that....

I'm very pleased with the direction they are going now. I don't live in yesteryear when Phoebus was destroying teams in the playoffs. Since you're blasting Coach Blunt's teams so much, let's go back to 2011 during our last state championship run. After the first round, every single playoff game that year were within single digits but i don't hear you talking about that. The truth is, you've been spoiled and you're acting like a two year old brat that can't have his/her way anymore. I never said the coaching wasn't an issue in the past but I've learned to move on and accept that the coaches and kids just simply aren't on the same level as in the past. JB is still a young coach that's going through the process of learning how to be a championship winning head coach. Bill Dee didn't win his fist title until his 15th year at Phoebus. Also only two coaches from Bill Dee's staff are still remaining. Coaching is so much harder this day and age than it ever was. Society has changed so much with social media, recruiting, etc that everything is wide open for the kids to be easily distracted.and at some point we all must make some changes. I don't care if Phoebus wins these games by 1 point, it really doesn't matter because JB and the staff will then have number 8 in that trophy case. Phoebus looks like they hit the reset button and are doing some good things.

Not so sure about that....

My point exactly LHS Rams. The Bay Rivers as a whole was way better than the PD from top to bottom. This guy is just one of those fans from the past that helped give Phoebus the bad rap that we had on here many years ago.

I think the BRD is better than some folks realize, or care to admit...the PD is rich in history and tradition, so a down year here and there wouldn't concern me...it's bound to happen at times.

You're right, fans definitely get spoiled when their team's winning consistently at the highest level, but when that starts to taper off, you have to take a step back and realize that's not going to happen every year...it's just not realistic. Until you can do that and realize that success doesn't constitute winning a championship every year, the criticism will fly...I'm guilty of it myself, as a lot of us are. Regardless of what may have transpired on this site years ago, I can assure you I have nothing but respect for Phoebus...they've accomplished what most can only dream of doing.

Very true. I was at that Culpepper vs Hampton game. Culpepper had a very good team. I think the Crabbers took them lightly.

Living within a mile of Heritage and having a daughter graduate there i will root for the players. However i sincerely wish they had a different coach as i cant see eye to eye with him.
