Phoebus defeated the Woodside Wolverines 19-13 at Todd Stadium in a key Peninsula District matchup. On a night when neither team could generated much offense, it was the Phantoms defense that was the story of the game. They made a critical goal line stand while coming up with an interception and a couple of sacks. Phoebus totaled only 184 yards of offense but they held the Wolverines to only 180 yards.

Phoebus forced a three-and-out on the Wolverines 1st possession and took over on the Woodside 36-yard line. They needed only four plays to get across the goal line aided by a 33-yard pass reception from Chris Daniels to Barry Hargraves. Senior Jaylen White scored from 2-yards out for a 6-0 lead.

Woodside took the lead 7-6 after a 23-yard punt return by D'onte Chesson setup a 26-yard touchdown run by Desmin Wright with 6:30 to go in the 2nd quarter.

The Phantoms regained the lead with an 11-play scoring drive right before the end of the 1st half. Daniels hit Dalon Dixon for a 1st down then ran four yards on a quarterback keeper that made the score 12-7 at halftime.

An interception by Latrelle Smith gave Phoebus the ball in Woodside territory. Sophomore Anthony Turner carried twice for 28-yards including a 16-yard touchdown run with 5:16 to go in the quarter.

Woodside came up short on 18-play drive. They had a 1st-and-goal from the six yard line but defensive end Josiah Silver (pictured below) sacked quarterback Tyler Thompson for an 11-yard loss. Thompson did connect with Ricky Key for a 45 yard touchdown reception to cut the lead to 19-13 with around five minutes to go.
